Paris Men’s FW24 Highlights

If there’s one thing that gets my heart racing, it’s Men’s Paris Fashion Week. It’s an exciting week due to the many incredible talent. Nonetheless, Style Cartel brings you the highlights of Paris Fashion Week right here. GmBH was the closer for Men’s Paris Fashion Week and delivered a powerful message.

GmBH

Isik and Huseby, the founders of GmBH, opened their show with a powerful message. They also shared their immigrant and religious backgrounds. We are genuinely touched by their openness and willingness to share their personal experiences.

. “We have called for a ceasefire, a release of all hostages, a free Palestine and an end to the occupation,” GmBH founders said.

The collection showcased traditional tailoring with a modern twist, featuring Palestinian keffiyeh scarves that symbolize the brand’s advocacy. As the collection unfolded, it revealed eye-catching hoodies with United Nations logos with a dark spin on the logo, strong-shouldered coats, asymmetrical skirts, and coats inspired by the keffiyeh design, spruced up with artistic watermelon slices.

JUUN.J

South Korean designer, Juun.J embraced  freedom of expression into his Fall Collection. Rejecting ordinary tailoring, stripping down timeless pieces such as double-breasted suits, biker jackets, and wide-leg trousers, transforming them into bold, eccentric, and exaggerated statement pieces. With a focus on grungy yet slick aesthetics, Juun.J skillfully turned worn denim into impeccably cut suits and teased, bleached, and spray-painted plaits into voluminous balloon skirts.

KIDSUPER

KidSuper made waves in FW24 with a exciting show that merged football, music and fashion.. Titled “String Theory,” the show aimed to reconcile the contradictions between Einstein’s theory of Relativity and Quantum Theory. From tailored jackets with playful frills to branded accessories like duffle bags and patterned scarves, the collection featured vibrant graphic-heavy tops. Collaborations with Canada Goose and a surprise appearance by Ronaldinho Gaúcho added a fun surprise. It was like stepping into a time machine and being transported straight back to the Y2k era. How rappers and football players used to dress in the early 2000s. Remember the iconic baby pink outfit Cam’Ron wore? Certain looks were reminiscent of Cam’Ron back in the 00’s.

JUNYA WATANABE MAN

Junya Watanabe is well known for his patchwork designs. In his latest FW24 collection he added his unique touch to the classic and traditional men’s suit and tailoring. The theme of “reconstructed suiting” was noticed, as Watanabe aimed to create tailored pieces that could be worn by men of different generations. With David Sylvian’s soulful music playing in the background, and models sporting round sunglasses and choppy hairstyles, there was a romantic, slightly ’80s vibe throughout the show. Watanabe combined 501 jeans and repurposed pinstriped trousers, with the long, slender coats.

SONGZIO

SONGZIO FW24 named “Night Theives” capturing the unique antiheroes, embracing the nature of the night – serene yet wild, mysterious yet grounded. Inspired by Prometheus, the collection symbolizes divergent viewpoints and unexpected outcomes. With bold colors, diverse materials, and fusion of contrasts, the collection showcases modern Oriental-inspired designs, featuring classical shapes like bell silhouettes, soft curves, symmetrical and asymmetrical cuts. The collaboration with Reebok adds avant-garde activewear to the mix. The collection features a range of materials such as metallic fabrics, knits, leather, and so on.

BALMAIN

BALMAIN FW24 is a powerful reminder that maximalism, bold and black culture deserve a prominent place in the world of luxury fashion. Drawing inspiration from the sapeurs, who honor the tenets of the Société des Ambianceurs et des Personnes Elégantes.  Balmain celebrates their vibrant style with tailored French silhouettes with colorful African patterns. Originating in Brazzaville during the 1960s, the dandy stylings of modern sapeurs still captivate today. The luxurious collection challenges misconceptions and asserts black culture as a symbol of luxury. Luxury doesn’t need to be muted.

DRÔLE DE MONSIEUR

Drôle de Monsieur debuted their first-ever runway show this FW24. The collection combines elements of prep, streetwear, tailored pieces, houndstooth overcoats, quarter-zip sweaters, coordinating corduroy sets, and multicolored graphic cardigans, among other pieces. The collection brings on a strong personality, effortless yet it’s the styling that makes it stand out. Certain looks from the collection reminded me of the Caddy Shack and the allure of Miami’s drug dealer (Scarface) vibe with a contemporary touch. In this collection you will see many revivals such as berets, houndsteeth, pinstripe, corduroy and much more. The styling is on point in this collection. We are excited to see Drôle de Monsieur’s journey.

RICK OWENS

Rick Owen’s show took place in his own brutalism concrete/French stucco home and business at Place du Palais Bourbon.

Owens opened the show stating  “a respectful mood in observance of the barbaric times through which we are living.”

Simply put, it was not the time to make noise or be bold. Owen’s displayed a beautiful unparalleled level of creativity. The silhouettes were bold, innovative and unusual. The textures of his fabrics, including luxurious alpacas, cashmeres, and sleek leather. Honestly there was something intriguing about their usual proportions. Is Owen’s reshaping our perception of attractiveness since all the other collections are sleek and tailored to fit.

LOUIS VUITTON

Louis Vuitton FW24 menswear latest collection inspired by cowboy, American workwear and reimagined iconic western films.  The tailoring in all these looks are superb. The collection featured boot-cut and flared trousers with a slim-fitting bodice,  these tailored pieces were often adorned with variations of the camouflage Monogram pattern, as well as intricate embellishments and strategically placed Dakota flower motifs.s. The classic Steamer bag made a comeback in three sizes, including an oversized 65-cm silhouette that demanded attention as it graced the runway. This massive Steamer design was spacious enough to accommodate cabin-sized luggage. Additionally, there were Speedy bags embellished with gems and other variations.
