I am obsessed with red hair and tired of all the greys the plan-demic gave me. Josh Wood Colour salon in West London invited me to review the salon and I was ready for them to show me what they got.

To my surprise, Josh Wood Colour said they could give me the colour without bleaching my hair. I am a firecracker at heart and now I have the hair to match. I love to review hair salons and be surprised how a non traditional black hair salon manages my hair. When Issie said she could give the colour I wanted without having to lighten and lift without bleach, ” I said let’s go. Her own strawberry blond colour looked ravishing, so that alone made trust her. Number one rule, if your hairdressers hair looks good, then they will make you look good too.

The Process

Issie first prepared to lift the colour without bleaching it.  She started with a light 30 minute Vitamin C cleanse. Then we decided to go for a Pillow box red colour cherry 🍒 by Wella. Since I was in the hospital for 2months, my hair was damaged and I had hair loss and breakage. She suggested I make sure to always protect my ends with moisture and no elastic bands.

This is the hardest for me, I love a ponytail! For aftercare she recommend a protective conditioner once a week treatment mask. My colour will last 3 weeks after colour rival Semi-Permanent colour mask to freshen it up. Then in another 4 weeks get a root touch up and back to life back to red! Having this colour in my hair makes me high maintenance but we knew that already! Depending on the colour fade tones need to be freshened up following with Wellaplex to keep the colour.

The Cut JOSH WOOD COLOUR LONDON

After my colour, I need a little trim. After the lovely Ella Jr colourist at the salon prepped me for a cut. The Salon put me in the hands of the lovely Noemie who is also French but has an affinity for curly hair. I was happy because this is my biggest fear when going to a non traditional black salon. Do they have the products right for my hair and can they style it?

Noemie was up to the challenge and we both missed NYC and the Dominican hairdressers. So we decided to do a roller set! It was funny because I wanted to as for a roller set. This is a thing of the past because who has time for a roller set for many. I do because it’s less damage to the hair.

So after my trim we applied the rollers. I walked out the salon with bounce in my hair and step look at how happy I was with the results. Sun was shinning and I was a real redhead again after 2 years! As well as loads of protects to keep me coming back to the Josh Wood Colour salon in West London. Grateful to the entire team, for the hospitality, the great haircare products and the yummy hot chocolate. I’ll be back Josh!
