Junsei London: A Feast for All Senses by Chefs Aman Lakhiani & Zach Farr

From the moment I stepped into Junsei, nestled in the heart of Marylebone, I was struck by the restaurant’s warm ambience and minimalist Japanese-inspired decor. Known for its elevated take on yakitori, Junsei prides itself on the quality of its ingredients and its innovative approach to traditional techniques.

The menu is a feast of expertly grilled skewers, seasonal vegetables, and decadent desserts. Every dish I tried was not only allergen-friendly but also an explosion of flavours.

Star Dishes

While the entire menu delighted my palate, the Chicken Skin Chips with
Sansho Salt stole the spotlight. Crisp, savoury, and utterly addictive, they were the perfect appetizer to kick off the evening. The fig dessert Miso Sticky Toffee Pudding Date Cake, Creme Fraiche was a revelation—rich, sweet, and balanced, it was the kind of indulgence that stays with you long after the meal.

Yakitori Highlights

The skewers ranged from the tender thigh and juicy tsukune to delicate vegetarian options like shiitake mushrooms and grilled asparagus. Each skewer was cooked over a traditional binchotan grill, imbuing it with a smoky richness that elevated the dish. Another favourite is Red Mullet Shioyaki Ponzu, Oroshi fish dish.

Drinks & Atmosphere

Junsei’s non-alcoholic drink options are equally impressive. Each sip felt like a perfectly paired complement to the meal, enhancing the experience without overpowering the delicate flavours of the food.

The restaurant’s design makes it an ideal spot for a sexy date night, with warm lighting and a bar setup where you can watch the chefs work their magic. There’s something mesmerizing about seeing your food cooked right in front of you—it adds a personal, theatrical touch to the evening.

Service and Hospitality

The Junsei team went above and beyond to ensure my dining experience was both safe and delightful. Chef Aman personally took the time to discuss my allergies and curated a tailored selection of dishes that I could enjoy without hesitation. This level of care and attention is rare and deeply appreciated.

Inclusivity & Care

What makes Junsei truly shine is its hospitality. Chef Aman Lakhiani personally ensured my allergies were accounted for, crafting a meal that was not only safe but utterly delicious. This kind of care and attention makes Junsei a standout in London’s dining scene.

Final Thoughts

Junsei London isn’t just a restaurant; it’s an experience—a harmonious blend of meticulous preparation, creative presentation, and unmatched hospitality. For foodies with dietary restrictions, it’s a haven where you can enjoy a truly inclusive dining experience.
