13 Days of Halloween: A Guide for the Best Halloween

The Halloween Countdown is on: Your Guide to Get in the Spooky Spirit

Follow along with this post as I share my daily activities, aiming to get myself and you ready for the day of Halloween!

Day 1

What better way to get into the Halloween spirit than to go on a little shopping spree? I already know which shop I’ll be heading to first as I wander through the streets of Manchester. It must be ‘Lush’. Their Halloween-themed bath bombs are an essential part of my cosy evenings in. As I enter, I’m greeted by the most dazzling smell, and a jolly worker asks, “Can I help you?” I picked up the new ‘spiced cinnamon latte’ body wash that sports a vibrant orange and swirls of glitter, as well as a sparkly pumpkin bath bomb. I’m nearly at the till when my eye catches on ‘the plague doctor’ bath bomb, and I cannot resist. The colour is almost all black, so I’m absolutely in for a spooky bath!

Next stop, ‘Flying Tiger’, a shop I don’t think I possess the power to walk past without venturing in. A treasure trove of colourful homeware, quirky gifts and whimsical trinkets, I slowly amble around the store before a set of Halloween earrings catch my eye. I can’t resist. Priced at only £4, it comes with 9 sets of spooky earrings – something I have needed.

My favourite stop on this trip is Waterstones. This bookshop is a little cosy haven with towering shelves of novels. Freida McFadden’s book The Witch instantly catches my eye, especially as the author also wrote The Housemaid, which recently received a film adaptation. The cover shows a cauldron with blue smoke drifting out of it. I can’t wait to start reading it.

Feeling truly spooky, I’m heading home to run a bath, make a hot cuppa and snuggle up with my new book!
