For over 58 years, Rabanne has been a trailblazer in championing art as a force for shaping visionary and inclusive futures. This legacy continued in 2023 with the launch of the Rabanne Arts Factory powered by Dazed, a global initiative to spotlight emerging talents in digital and experimental art.
Meet Lucy Ellis: A Visionary Animator
This year, Lucy Ellis, an experimental animator and Fine Art with Creative Computing BA student, was selected as the inaugural winner of the Rabanne Arts Factory competition. Her work explores the intricate relationship between humans and technology, using found materials to craft compelling narratives and identities. Lucy’s unique ability to fuse physical and digital realms captivated the distinguished jury, which included:

- Jefferson Hack, Co-Founder of Dazed Media
- Venus Lau, Curator and Writer
- Claude Adjil, Curator
A Stage at Art Basel Miami Beach
As the winner, Lucy will present her visionary art at Art Basel Miami Beach, on December 6-8, 2024. Visitors can witness her creative process in real-time within a 40-square-meter space in the Grand Ballroom of the Miami Beach Convention Center. This global stage provides Lucy with an unparalleled opportunity to connect with audiences and elevate her artistic journey.
In addition to the prestigious showcase, Lucy will receive a financial reward to support her future as an artist.
Celebrating New Realities
The Rabanne Arts Factory reflects Rabanne’s mission to inspire creativity and challenge boundaries. In collaboration with Dazed, the initiative invited artists worldwide to submit works visualizing “new realities.” Finalists hailed from prestigious art schools including Central Saint Martins in London, École Duperré in Paris, and Istituto Marangoni in Florence. The judging process culminated in a roundtable discussion where Lucy’s immersive and innovative storytelling earned her the top honour.
