Armani made his grand entrance in Piacenza,Italy on July 11,1934. He showed promise as a creator at a young age, and honed his skills in Milan, Italy, while working at a department store called La Rinescante. Building on his talent, he ventured  into business with his partner Sergio Galettio establishing his first design studio. Breaking through with American Gigolo

Armani broke through in the USA by designing menswear for the movie American Gigolo in 1980. Notable fashion choices for the film shifted the way people looked at men’s  wear by removing jacket padding and using softer fabrics like linen, creating lighter silhouettes and more fluid movement for the wearer.  With the launch of American Gigolo, Armani makes Richard Gere a household name and style icon by wearing Armani’s designs.

Armani in the Future

Armani was a fascinating figure in fashion history and his designs will live on for future generations.  His fashion house and legacy will live on through his licensing  deals with L’Oreal and EssilorLuxottica. Knowing about Armani is a treat for anybody. I believe his designs will teach future fashion designers about men’s wear and minimalist fashion.
