At the 2025 Met Gala, themed “Tailored for You” in celebration of the Costume Institute’s “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style” exhibition, numerous celebrities showcased their interpretations of Black dandyism and tailored fashion.

1. Damson Idris

Damson Idris arrives at the Met Gala embodying this year’s theme with sharp style and cinematic flair. The F1 actor steps out in a custom white racing suit, complete with a Swarovski-studded helmet—a nod to his role in the upcoming film F1—before revealing a striking rouge tuxedo by Tommy Hilfiger underneath. In addition, the look is completed with jewelry from his own brand, DIDRIS.

“This is like walking with the DNA of my forefathers,” Idris says, calling dandyism a blend of history as well as innovation. “It’s the suits my mother dressed me in, Sidney Poitier’s elegance, and my own evolution—it all comes together here.”
