The Weeknd released his last studio album on January 31st. Apart from his performance, the album features Anitta, Playboi Carti, Travis Scott, Florence + The Machine, Future, Giorgio Moroder, and Lana Del Rey guest appearances. It also includes a bonus appearance by Swedish House Mafia. The trilogy’s final part includes After Hours( 2020) and Dawn FM (2022). The Weeknd-Hurry Up Tomorrow is a final chapter in his career.
Musically, Hurry Up Tomorrow blends R&B, trap elements, and synth-pop. The album contains a total of 22 tracks including such hits as Timeless with Playboi Carti and Sao Paulo with Anitta which both were released before the album. The Weekend-Hurry Up Tomorrow is a brilliant and deeply emotional album that is pleasing to the ear, both lyrically and melodically.
The Weeknd immerses us in an emotional odyssey about love, soul-searching, and suffering, all mixed with synth-pop. An emotional Grammy performance, the song “Open Hearts” explores the troubles of falling in love again. The song “Hurry Up Tomorrow” sounds like a heartfelt confession to his mother and loved ones, marking the end of his music career. With introspective lyrics and a melancholic tone, it feels like a farewell, reflecting on his journey, regrets, and gratitude. Another standout track is “Baptized in Fear”, where The Weeknd delves into the haunting experience of confronting his deepest regrets. In this song, he describes hiding from his past while encountering something almost supernatural, adding a mystical and eerie dimension to his emotional journey.

In addition to the album, The Weeknd plans to release a psychological thriller of the same name. The film is set for release on May 16, 2025, and features notable actors such as Jenna Ortega, Barry Keoghan, and Abel Tesfaye (The Weeknd) himself. Directed by Trey Edward Shults, the film explores themes of mental health and vulnerability, following the story of a musician struggling with insomnia. The Weeknd- Hurry Up Tomorrow is about the hard journey of being a world-famous superstar.
