Into Galia Lahav’s Dream State Collection

Fashion house, Galia Lahav, previously known as Gala, brings Dream State to their 2027 spring bridal collection. A collection that quite literally feels like it came out of a fairytale. Visionary Galia Lahav started the brand after starting out as an arts and crafts teacher and later left to achieve her dreams in starting her business, with passion driving her to success.

During her time as a teacher, Galia met Sharon Sever, a student of hers who left a lasting impression with his sketches and is now the head designer at Galia Lahav. His journey started from the moment he left his home and family in Israel to achieve his dream of becoming a fashion designer at the Paris American Academy. His portfolio includes brands such as Christian Lacroix, Pierre Balmain, Carven, and Balenciaga, where he gained industry experience through apprenticeships.

The company specializes in luxury bridal and couture fashion, rooted in the philosophy that when each garment is put on, it evokes a feeling of confidence. Each garment is crafted to connect with the wearer, emotionally and personally.

From bespoke, Galia Lahav Couture, Galia Lahav, and ready-to-wear experiences, the house creates garments that one can only imagine in their dreams, the perfect dress that you never thought existed. Galia Lahav’s spring 2027 collection exactly does that and whisks viewers into a dreamland through its intricate details, fitted and flowy silhouettes, corsetry, floral lace, and sheerness. I was able to speak to the head designer, Sharon Sever, about the collection, Dream State:

Style Cartel: The collection, Dream State, feels rooted in fantasy, what was the core inspiration behind it?

Sharon: Dream State began with the idea of a woman reaching a moment of complete alignment. It’s not about fantasy as escape, but about the point where everything becomes clear, where identity, confidence, and emotion come together. I wanted to capture that shift, when a bride is no longer imagining who she is, but fully owning it.

Style Cartel: How did you translate the idea of a dream into specific design elements like fabric, texture, and silhouette?

Sharon: We approached the collection through contrast. There is a balance between structure and softness, between control and fluidity. Sculpted corsetry creates presence and authority, while lighter fabrics and fluid skirts introduce movement and sensuality. Lace is used to create depth and intimacy rather than decoration, and embroidery is placed very deliberately, so everything feels intentional rather than excessive.

Style Cartel: What were some of the most intricate techniques used in bringing Dream State to life?

Sharon: The complexity is often hidden. A lot of the work is in the construction, particularly in the corsetry and how it shapes the body while remaining effortless. We focused on precise embroidery placement and layering techniques that create dimension without overwhelming the silhouette. The goal was always control, using couture techniques to define the garment, not overpower it.

Style Cartel: The collection feels cinematic, did you envision a specific setting, story, or character while designing it?

Sharon: I imagined a woman at the peak of her own story. There isn’t one specific setting, it’s more about a moment. Everything around her fades, and what remains is clarity, presence, and emotion. She is not performing or transforming, she is fully herself, and that creates a very cinematic kind of intensity.

Style Cartel: What emotions do you hope brides experience when they wear a piece from the collection?

Sharon: Clarity and confidence. There is something very powerful about feeling completely certain in a moment that only happens once. I want the bride to feel composed, sensual, and emotionally grounded – not overwhelmed, but fully present in what she’s experiencing.

Style Cartel: How do you approach designing pieces that feel timeless, while still pushing creative boundaries?

Sharon: Timelessness comes from precision and proportion. Once those are right, you can push boundaries through texture, construction, shape & detail. In Dream State, we explored new ways of creating depth & dimension, always within a framework that feels refined and controlled, ensuring the gowns remain relevant beyond a single moment.

Style Cartel: What role does craftsmanship play in storytelling within this collection?

Sharon: Craftsmanship is what allows the story to exist. Every decision, from corsetry to embroidery placement, supports the idea of presence and control. It’s not about excess, it’s about intention. The way a gown is built is what gives it emotion and meaning.

Style Cartel: Are there specific details in the collection that feel meaningful to you?

Sharon: The corsetry is very important this season, especially how it’s inspired by Victorian structure but reinterpreted in a modern way. I also find the use of lace very meaningful, not as decoration, but as something that creates intimacy and depth. And of course, the red look stands out, it represents the emotional peak of the collection.

Style Cartel:  At what point in the process did the collection truly come together for you and what defined that moment?

Sharon: It comes together when the emotion becomes visible. During the fittings, when the silhouette, movement and feeling align, you can see that it’s no longer just a design. It becomes a moment. That’s when I knew the collection was complete.

Style Cartel: In three words, how would you describe the collection?

Sharon: Commanding. Refined. Transformative.
