Schiaparelli Fall 2025: The Beating Heart Of Haute Couture

Schiaparelli has been the talk of the industry ever since Daniel Roseberry’s appointment to the house in 2019. What was once an almost extinct brand has transformed into one of the most anticipated shows of every season, now opening haute couture calendars. Naturally, anticipation is high. Season after season, whether couture or ready-to-wear, Daniel continues to surpass expectations. With Daniel Roseberry at Schiaparelli, curiosity is never seasonal, it is consistent. And as the house will be opening the haute couture season on 7th July 2025, all eyes are on what he’ll choose to open with.

Back To The Future With Schiaparelli

If last season was about making something baroque look modern, this season is about inverting archives to make them look futuristic. – Daniel Roseberry

Schiaparelli Fall 2025 takes us back to 1940, when Elsa Schiaparelli left Paris during the height of its glamour and on the brink of war, relocating to New York.

Daniel made the comparison over the previous two decades, two designers had completely transformed fashion. Coco Chanel freed women from corsets, dressing them in simple, rectangular jersey dresses. She also introduced what we now call brand codes which are timeless elements like her iconic little black dress and the quilted handbag.

Elsa Schiaparelli, on the other hand, took a more artistic approach to fashion. Taking great inspiration from Surrealism such as prominent artist: Salvador Dali, she treated her as works of art. While others, including Coco Chane,l find it a nuisance. However, Elsa had a futuristic approach. How to elevate the fashion they had back then and what could the future of fashion be, earning her the title of an avant grade designer.

In summary, “Back To The Future” reflects Daniel’s vision, drawing inspiration from a pivotal moment in history: a time marked by both peak glamour and the looming darkness of war. The collection is largely monochromatic, with hints of an orange red tone.

Straying a little away from Schiaparelli’s iconic corsets, Daniel instead onto the archives of  Elsa Schiaparelli. Elegant dinner suits, short skirts, sharp jackets and fluid evening gowns that redefine modern nightwear.

Through “Back To The Future”, this collection serves as a reminder:

when we look to the past, it should be to find meaning that helps shape the future.

You’d think the show was over after the finale, curtains closed, another stunning collection wrapped. But then, Daniel posted a detail from one of the looks: a heart-shaped accessory that actually beats. It instantly went viral across Instagram, catching fire on fashion pages everywhere.

We’ve seen his embrace of technology before, such as the motherboards from Schiaparelli’s Spring 2024 Couture. But this jeweled, mechanical heart was something else. Placed on the back of a model wearing a red dress, it played with perspective in true Schiaparelli style. The back of the dress featured anatomical detailing, and showing the model’s hairdo which gave the illusion we are looking at the front, when in fact, it was the back.

A brilliant, surreal twist. Pure Daniel. Pure Schiaparelli.
