TORY BURCH – Spring Summer 2023 Runway Collection

Tory Burch is reclaiming her spot as a pioneering American Luxury Brand for Spring Summer 2023. This season with effortless style and accessories to covet. Here is the latest from the TORY BURCH Spring Summer 2023 Runway Report set on the Hudson River at Pier 76.

TORY BURCH – Spring Summer 2023

The Spring/Summer 2023 show took place at sunset with a celestial mobile suspended above the runway. Wladimir Schall produced the music, which included “Suite Bergamasque” by Tomita, “Whole Lotta (V dub edit)” by Led Zeppelin, “I Heard it Through the Grapevine” by The Slits, “Don’t Break My Heart” by UB40, and “Tonight, Tonight” by The Smashing Pumpkins.

“The Spring-Summer 2023 collection is defined by opposing instincts: experimenting freely and going back to basics. But, of course, this is precisely what the fashion-consumed client has asked for and will buy. Clean lines and an ethereal palette are the understated backdrops to a new emphasis on material and silhouette.

The creation of luxurious fabrics is designed to follow the body’s movements – ultrafine knits, techno satin, lightweight jerseys. An exploration of form in wrapped silhouettes, sporty touches and the opposition of sculptural cuts on translucent layers. This collection is personal and intuitive, drawing on my memories of the 90s when Tory Burch moved to New York. The 90s NYC scene was a rebirth of cool.

I wanted to explore my signatures from a new perspective by reflecting on what feels modern today.

SILHOUETTES: The focus on the body continues in clean, minimalist jersey separates, feather-light knits and sporty cropped pants. Several looks feature jersey bandeaus gathered at the waist for soft waist definition. In contrast, others wrap softly around the body, from narrow stretch-satin midi skirts to luxurious Indian silk dresses.

On the other hand, the suit is very architectural: tunics with moulded peplums, sharp Italian wool blazers and golden leather coats. Tory Burch gave us a wearable collection to keep her Burch-ers returning for more.

Speaking of Tory Burch, HANDBAGS, SHOES, AND ACCESSORIES are the hero items of the show. This season’s shoes are pointed, geometric and above all flat, reimagining the look of everyday footwear. Squared soles, lined pumps and cutout Double T logos are subtle yet transformative updates. An exceptional mule plays on surrealism with a trompe l’oeil “toe ring” and an inverted “gravity heel”, a cushion-like platform above – not below – the sole.

New handbags in the collection include a ’90s-inspired doctor’s bag, the brand’s unique take on the stylish work bag with a roomy interior and ultralight construction.

Also new is a small square shoulder bag with a cutout silver Double T logo and an envelope-inspired interior. On several models, the logo reveals contrasting colours underneath. In addition, the clean shapes of the bags allow for a range of bold colours and surface treatments, such as crinkle varnish, embossed croc, contrast stitching and neon embossed snake. Plus, there was a plethora of choices that were ideal for the urban traveller. We will definitely see these trending on the street. It’s a new Tory Burch next season.

The season features new experiments in jewellery: Cosmic circles feature iridescent charms and beads, silver snakes wrap around wrists and biceps, and cascading processes mimic the effect of multiple piercings. These were my personal favourite. After the past few years, we have everyone wanting to aline themselves with mother nature and tap into the Divine Femmine parts of themselves, and Tory Burch is on the same vibe.  The accessories stand out and will sell to the massives like hot cakes, did you see the earrings!
