This year the Met Gala, an annual fundraising event for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute in New York City, reached new heights as celebrities graced the red carpet in jaw-dropping ensembles, showcasing their interpretations of this year’s theme ‘’Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion’’. Here, we unveil the top 10 men’s looks that stole the spotlight and captured the essence of the 2024 Met Gala.
1. Colman Domingo
Colman Domingo brought grace to the stairs of the Met Gala, wearing a look by the fashion designer Willy Chavarria. The look contained a white cape that extended from his jacket, paired with a pair of black wide-legged pants and was completed with a flower bouquet in his hands. The inspiration behind Domingo’s look for the evening was a tribute to the late Chadwick Boseman and André Leon Talley.
2. Lewis Hamilton
The Formula 1 driver Lewis Hamilton wore an all black custom look designed by Burberry, completed with gold accessories. Lewis Hamilton reveiled that the inspiration behind the look was a 18th century gardener named John Ystumllyn, who became the first black gardener in North Wales. “Through adversity, he really triumphed,” said the F1 star, who was appearing at his fifth Met Gala. As for jewelry, Hamilton partnered with Briony Raymond, donning a diamond wrap ring, yellow-diamond earrings, and a vintage 1960s yellow-sapphire-and-diamond ring.
3. Wisdom Kaye
For his Met Gala Debut, Wisdom Kaye delivered a hauntingly beautiful interpretation of ‘’The Garden Od Time’’ in a Burnt Red Rose, designed by the fashion designer Robert Wun. The look was inspired by the romantic aspect of the colour red, and telling a story of decay through time. ‘’The full red look using techniques in burning, hand printing and painting to encapsulate the natural flaws and the darkening of the red colour in rose petals as it ages and withers.’’ – Robert Wun.
4. Bad Bunny
The Puerto Rican singer Bad Bunny wore a custom Maison Margiela Artisanal Collection by John Galliano — an especially stirring collection in the world of fashion. The outfit includes a navy barathea wool smoking jacket with black grosgrain lapels, a black satin corset, and a reverse-swatched hat made of blue foam that’s snatched in blue stocking material. He arrived on the carpet with a floral bouquet in hand, which tells a story all its own: There are flor de maga, the national flower of Puerto Rico; roses, a symbol of beauty and purity; and the flax plant, which Sleeping Beauty pricked her finger on in the famed fairy tale.
5. Ben Simmons
The Brooklyn Nets star Ben Simmons served the 2024 Met Gala red carpet in a look by the fashion designer Thom Browne. The ensemble consisted of a suit paired with a matching overcoat with a tartan pattern over the shoulders, also featuring a blooming white flower. Ben Simmons completed the look with an eye-catching big clock briefcase, matching the dress code for this year’s Met Gala, The Garden of Time.
6. Jaden Smith
Jaden Smith made a striking entrance to the 2024 Met Gala, wearing a custom black-and-white look by the fashion designer Thom Browne. The ensemble consisted of a coat in white denim, paired with an unbuttoned quilted white oxford shirt revealing his chest, accentuated with pink and white dahlias. The R&B star Usher wore a theatrical all-black look on the stairs of the 2024 Met Gala. The singer Lil Nas X made a glamorous statement on the steps of the 2024 Met Gala, as he wore an off white look with dazzling crystal details by Raul Lopez of Luar. The extravagant garment worn by Lil Nas X was embellished with 50,000 Swarovski crystals and was sure to turn heads on the red carpet. ”The crystal-studded tank top, the petal-like sash, and the intricate network of perfectly pieced-together panels are fragments of a larger whole, held together.” – Raul Lopez. The designer mentioned he looked to the Met’s “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion” exhibition as inspiration for the look, with a vision of garments that had previously laid dormant starting to awaken, their silhouettes blooming.

The actor Jeremy Pope continued the trend of capes on the 2024 Met Gala red carpet, as he wore a look consisting of a striped suit showing his bare chest, combined with a long white silk cape with fur details, designed by Tanner Fletcher. The details on the look created a harmonious balance between masculinity and femininity, perfectly complementing Pope’s dynamic presence.
10. Barry Keoghan
Barry Keoghan made an eye-catching entrance to the 2024 Met Gala, as he donned a three-piece velvet suit in olive green, designed by Burberry. The actor brought the evening’s dress code ”The Garden of Time” present, as he wore not one, not two, but three incredible Omega watches, including a ’30s pocket watch. He also brought a theatrical side to his look, resembling a real life Mad Hatter.
