That’s who embodies the designer’s latest collection and who he made it for.  She has attitude and she does not just walk in a room struts in the room.

“The girls need new blouses, new dresses, new something. That’s what we’re trying to do, and I take main inspiration from my clients,” he continues. “I feel like they’re all naughty bitches, so that’s the show’s theme.”

One of the highlights at New York City’s Spring Studios, the collection incorporates motifs familiar to the designer: dramatic shoulder pads, power suits, the butt-barring no-pants look and vibrant colours. Like in previous seasons, the Sergio Hudson wearer is a dandy, mixing masculine and feminine elements with an unfaltering elegance. For example, a suit shirt and black tie are tucked into a bustier dress. A lavallière shirt is zipped under a boned leather bodice. A duster coat reveals a skin-tight jumpsuit beneath. There is always tension at play.

Hudson pushed for something new this season, too. He says, “We are exploring some new styles, some new silhouettes, but still keeping true to who we are as a brand.”

Flow-y silhouettes, in particular, depart from the designer’s usual mix of body-hugging and tailored pieces. There are plentifully pleated maxi dresses that lend fluid movement and fish scale sequins that create a multi-dimensional effect. But it’s still done the Sergio Hudson way, of course.
