Pride is about many things. For example, celebrating individuality, sexual diversity and the history of the LGBTQIA+ community.
That said, staying true to their commitment to celebrate inclusivity and challenge unrealistic beauty standards, Savage X Fenty have announced its first Pride capsule collection.
The brand has chosen to celebrate the diversity within the LGBTQIA+ community, championing diversity across the board. In fact, photographer, Quil Lemons shot each style on members of the community.
Lemons is a Brooklyn-based, African American photographer. Interestingly, the 23-year-old photographer became the youngest photographer to shoot a cover for Vanity Fair. Through his work, he aims to represent each community he feels connected to. Touching upon themes such as queerness, masculinity and race, there seems like no better fit for this Pride campaign.
Rihanna herself said: “Pride is all about appreciating your authentic self. I am very excited about this collection and showing love and support to the LGBTQIA+ community, which includes so many of our customers, team members and fans.”
The Pride collection features 25 new pieces. These include lacy rainbow bras, satin boxers, suspender belts and Savage-branded jockstraps. Even a multi-coloured kitty whip!
And of course, in true Fenty style, the collection has been designed to fit everybody. Thus, bras are available in 30A-42H and garments from XS-3X.
Prices range from £12 to £49.
One of the models, Dexter Mayfield said: “Body positivity means every body is included. Whether you are fit, whether you are slim, whether you are fat, whether you are disabled, whether you are able, whether– no matter where you are on the spectrum as a human, that’s what body positivity means.”
Model and Youtuber, Jaslene Whiterose adds: “I think that me sharing my story lets younger Trans women know that they can be as free as I am.”
What’s more, through its partnership with the Clara Lionel Foundation, purchase of the Pride Capsule Collection will help support GLAAD, the Audre Lorde Project, The Caribbean Equality Project, INC., Trans Latin@ Coalition and the Trans Wellness Center make lasting change within the community.
