“This collection is more than a celebration of beauty; it’s a tribute to the creativity and resilience of young Indonesian designers. I want my work to inspire the next generation to keep creating and innovating,”
Howard Laurent is steadily carving out a powerful presence in the Indonesian fashion scene. Although still considered an emerging designer, he’s already commanding attention, quietly watched from afar and perhaps, Indonesia’s next major fashion force.
Now, with LUSTRE, his first ever fashion show for JF3, Laurent reaches another defining milestone. The 25-look collection, marking six years since he began his couture journey, is far more than a visual spectacle. It’s a luminous expression of his evolution, a glimpse of his creative future, and a tribute to the ambition that drives him to be the “guiding light” of Indonesia’s future designers – ultimately, finding that “spark” we hold within ourselves.

Howard Laurent Shines Bright Through “LUSTRE”
Lustre – To Illuminate, To Shine.
LUSTRE by Howard Laurent brought an array of shimmering evening couture to the runway. Interestingly, the word ‘Lustre‘ in French can also refer to a “five-year period”, a subtle nod to the age of his couture house. The collection radiated an exceptional glimmer, a signature of Laurent’s design language.

Notably, opening the show was Sarah Pandjaitan, Puteri Indonesia Sumatera Utara 2022, who embodies the ethos of the brand. Her dress consisted of a fringed skirt that moved fluidly with every step, paired with a structured bustier that has an exaggerated off-shoulder top.

Although the collection maintained a refined black-and-white palette, it was elevated with Swarovski fringes, intricate beading, lustrous fabrics, and pearls. It evoked a sense of heightened Hollywood glamour, reimagined through Laurent’s elegant lens. Furthermore, these creations were complemented by accessories from Komangtri and shoe brand Veni Voir.

With JF3’s unwavering commitment in encouraging new talent for the past 21 years, there will be more to come for rising designers such as Howard Laurent. For more information about JF3 and their current programme, it is available through their website and instagram.
