The Six Winners of Africa Fashion Up 2025:
Banke Kuku (Nigeria): She blends British and Nigerian influences. Her luxury loungewear features bold prints. It’s distributed in Lagos and online.
Dibo, Sume, and Fese (Cameroon) – Eloli World: Three sisters lead this brand. They use vibrant colours and rich textures. Their designs celebrate African heritage. It’s a contemporary twist.
Frank Aghuno (Nigeria) – Fruché: This self-taught designer is bold. He uses traditional textiles. His collections celebrate self-expression. Each piece is a manifesto.
Hawi Midekssa (Ethiopia) – HAWII: Already known in Paris and New York. Her brand blends Ethiopian heritage. It embraces international fashion. Each piece tells a story. She plans a fashion school.
Oshobor Odion (Nigeria) – OSHOBOR: His style is eccentric. Vibrant hues are his signature. He draws from his emotional heritage. Cultural references abound. This slow fashion brand is sustainable.
Samkelo Xaba (South Africa) – BOYDE: Geometric modernism inspires him. His style is simple and minimal. The brand offers luxurious fashion. High-quality craftsmanship is key. Comfort and function are prioritised. Sustainability is emphasised.
The Journey to International Acclaim
These designers will immerse themselves in Paris. Masterclasses and fashion house visits await. HEC Paris provides business training. This marks a four-month mentorship. Balenciaga offers awareness sessions.
The highlight is June 26. A fashion show will be at The Bridge. It’s an iconic Parisian venue. Major figures will attend. The Africa Fashion Up 2025 Designer Award is presented. A gala dinner follows.
