Perfect for couples, singles ready to mingle, and families, we had the pleasure of experiencing the Maçakızı Hotel in style and elegance.
The property has a quiet sense of history and intimacy. It’s been family run for more than forty years, and you can feel that warmth in the details. Our room was exceptional bright, spotless, and peaceful. The view from our balcony opened straight onto the water, the kind of view that makes you pause and forget whatever you were thinking about. The hotel feels like a luxurious sanctuary, the kind of place where days blur together in the best way.

Maçakızı Bodrum is as much about its food as its views. Breakfast offered an open buffet combining Turkish classics and Western favorites.
Macakızı Restaurant Light, Fresh, and Playful
Starting with the signature Maçakızı Restaurant, the menu is rooted in Mediterranean simplicity yet playful, where every dish surprises and delights. The chef greeted us with a gazpacho topped with dried strawberries, which added a bright acidity and gentle sweetness, an unexpected but perfect combination that completely won us over. Rosemary-infused olive oil arrived with fresh stone bread, its herbal aroma and warmth a quiet but elegant introduction to the meal.
Asparagus came creamy and delicate, each bite elevated by a single slice of bottarga that added a punch of umami without overpowering the vegetable’s natural flavor. Scallops were tender, garlicky, and lightly caramelized, while a deconstructed shrimp tempura brought a crisp, succulent texture reminiscent of Japanese cuisine. The wine pairings impressed as much as the food itself.
A light Turkish Pinot Noir cut through the richness of the seafood, refreshing the palate and adding a subtle elegance to each bite. Sea urchin risotto was tangy with a hint of the ocean. Broccoli cacio e pepe featured perfectly al dente pasta and a creamy finish. Short rib with fennel offered a rich, savory depth that lingered on the tongue.
Desserts were equally memorable. I am generally not a big fan of sweets, but I have been hunting lavender gelato ever since Maçakızı introduced me to it. Paired with light, delicate crème brûlée, it was fragrant and indulgent without being heavy. A dark chocolate tarte with fig ice cream rounded the menu with rich, bold flavors that lingered long after the last bite.
Café Med Fresh and Approachable by the Sea
Every dish at Café Med celebrates the seasonality of local ingredients. The open-air terrace allows guests to linger over their meal while soaking in the stunning beach club views.
We had lunch at Café Med. It started with coconut shrimp accented by delicate fennel, its subtle sweetness and light crunch perfectly balanced. The lionfish was crisp on the outside, tender inside, paired with cucumber that added a refreshing brightness to the clean, oceanic flavor. The classic bolognese was rich yet never heavy, with perfectly al dente pasta and a savory sauce carrying the depth of slow-cooked meat and aromatic herbs.
Each dish is bright, fresh, and approachable, reflecting the Mediterranean lifestyle. The setting elevates every bite, making lunch at Café Med a leisurely and satisfying experience by the Aegean.

Ayla Restaurant Intimate, Romantic, and Unforgettable

Ayla Restaurant takes the dining experience to another level. The setting is intimate, and it genuinely feels as if the chef is preparing the meal just for you. We were welcomed with small bites, espresso followed by warm introductions from the chef and staff who make you feel right at home.

The menu flows naturally, each course building on the last. It begins with an amuse bouche while waiting to be seated. We opted for some fresh espresso.

Starting off with a Çoban Salad in jelly form that tastes bright and fresh. It’s soft, full of flavor, and somehow still gives you the same fresh feeling as eating a crisp salad.

The kofta meatball with sheep yogurt were so tender and rich that I wished every meatball could taste like that.
The bread came with wild thyme and honey, paired with three award-winning olive oils from Muğla made with Memecik olives. One with artichoke and spinach notes, another with tomato and almond. The flavors were bold and unforgettable. Our favorite was the Artichoke and Spinach.
Act I
The opening courses featured a beetroot mille-feuille layered with çörek bread, kaymak, and caviar, alongside an elegant tarama of artichoke, fish roe, and bottarga.
Act II

Act II was iç pilav, aromatic rice cooked with sea urchin and coffee, a surprisingly perfect match. Followed by torrlini blue cheese, intensely flavoured and unapologetically bold.
Act III

Act III featured dry-aged sea bass with geranium greens and saffron emulsion. The fish was juicy and clean, with an aftertaste that lingered beautifully. The server even brought over the leaf we’d tasted in the dish for us to smell; it was divine.
Act IV
Act IV presented lamb with morel mushrooms and lamb jus. The lamb had a perfect texture, buttery but not too rich, with grilled onions and mushrooms that balanced it out.

The steak that followed had hints of chocolate, and the choco bread on the side was just as good.
The cheese course paired Obruk and Tamembert with carob bread and pine tree honey. Dessert was fig muhallebi with hazelnut crumble and fig molasses , smooth, nutty, and sweet in the right way. Petit fours closed the meal with rose liquor.
Every dish felt deeply considered but never forced. You could tell the chef loves roasty flavors and subtle surprises. The food, the music, the energy and everything at Ayla worked in quiet harmony. It was one of those dinners that stays with you long after it ends.
Maçakızı isn’t just a hotel. It’s a lifestyle, an indulgence, and a love letter to Bodrum. Whether you are there for the beach club, the food, the views, or simply the energy, it is the kind of place you will never forget.
