Evoke the Elements with Lumeira’s Parenia Steam
Found at the core of Lumeira’s secluded retreat stands a concrete dome that houses their heated firewood ceremony inspired by Slavic Banya, Temazcal, and Hammam traditions.
Within this sculptural dome rests a compact stone hearth, similar to those found in traditional saunas, radiating an intense, penetrating heat that fills the entire space, engaging guests to embrace the heat and center themselves in stillness.
Inside Lumeira’s Parenia Steam Dome
Led by two expert practitioners, the ritual begins in a softly lit dome where intense heat immediately surrounds you. A warm, fragrant breeze from the heated stones marks the start of the experience. Aromatics are whiffed into the air by a large hand fan which created an immersive atmosphere.
A practitioner gently brushes two bundles of steamed leaves, usually in the form of birch, oak, or eucalyptus, across the body, targeting pressure points to stimulate circulation and promote deep relaxation. In turn, between waves of heat, they sweep their ice cold, drenched leaves over the skin.
This interplay between hot and cold anchors you in the present moment. All five elements come alive, earth in the dome’s solid structure, water in the melting ice, fire from the heat, air from the rising steam, and space held within the expansive room. Each moment reconnects the body and mind through the delicate interplay of touch, scent, and temperature.

In addition, other facilities include two ice bath pools, a warm flower soak heated by the natural scent of burning logs, a general swimming pool, a jacuzzi, and a wooden sauna room – available for clients to immerse themselves in when they want to take a break from the Paneira steam room.

After completing the Lumeira steam ritual, we were seamlessly guided into the next phase of the journey: A Sound-Immersive Deep Tissue Therapy.
Set in a quiet corner of the wellness space, the massage rooms offered a true retreat. Inside, a massage bed awaited, surrounded by head-level speakers designed to surround you in sound, all while offering a stunning view of the jungle.
Where Music Meets Massage
Before beginning, the therapist invited us to select from a curated playlist of calming music, then played our choice through the speakers to create a cocoon of sound. Additionally, we chose from six aromatic oils. I went with ‘Align,’ one of their signature scents, which completed the entire experience.
This was far more than a physical treatment. The music pulsed through the body, syncing with the deep, deliberate movements of the massage. The experience transported me to another dimension, where only sound, scent, and sensation existed. The massage itself was intense and deeply restorative.
By the end, it felt as though a weight had been lifted. Ultimately, I left feeling lighter, clearer, and perhaps, enlightened.

It reminded me how essential it is to respect the places we visit and showed me what true luxury can feel like beyond expensive products. Most importantly, as an Indonesian, it reminded me how crucial it is to support and protect our culture by championing remarkable local enterprises like Lumeira.
