Air Max Day 2021 – What to expect.

If there’s one date highlighted in every sneaker lover’s diary each year, it’s 26th March. Air Max day. The day we celebrate the Air Max, and the family of silhouettes that have been released over the years.

Nike are NOT playing games with us this year either. There is a lot in store for us sneakerheads this Air Max day. I’m sure I’m not the only one that’s super excited to see what they have up their sleeves! 

The Story of Air Max: 90-2090

Ever wanted to learn about the history of the Air Max 90, and where it’s going in the future? This is the documentary for you. Nike is releasing this special documentary “The Story of Air Max: 90-2090” showing the evolution of the Air Max 90. Teaching us all about the most famous technology to have been developed out of any sportswear giant. The doc is 25 minutes long, and features plenty of special guests. Take a look into the cultural impact Air Max has had on the world. Watch either on SNKRS app now, and on Youtube March 26th (AMD).

Releases

It’s no surprise that we’re in for a huge treat in the form of sneaker releases. The drops start earlier in the week, but then carry on through to the following week! This year sees an AM 97 in a polar blue colourway covered in Swarovski, an “Evolution of Icons” pack, including an Air Max 1 with huge attention to detail. There are “City Special” packs dedicated to US powerhouses, a long awaited re-release of a fan favourite in the classic Bacon’s, and totally a new silhouette, the Air Max Pre-Day. The CLOT Air Max 1 K.O.D is popping back up again, so sneakerheads can try their luck with for a 2nd time. Then following that a “95 LeBron” will be hitting the shelves (virtually of course!). Whichever of the Air Max collection you have a soft spot for, there’s going to be something for you.

Say hello to the newest, but also most sustainable Air Max in history. The Air Max Pre-Day.

Nike has presented us with this new silhouette in a gorgeous lime green that tips it’s hat to the classics, whilst adding a modern twist. With a vintage athletics aesthetic, the signature air unit is exposed between the midsole and outsole, instead of hidden within, which allows for compression to give a soft bounce in the heel.

Air Max Pre-Day

Along with the revolutionary sleek design, it’s been curated whilst staying dedicated to Nike’s Move To Zero initiative. The Pre-Day is the most sustainable Air Max to have ever gone into production because of the materials they consist of. They’re made with a minimum of 20% recycled content (by weight) The upper is made from 100% recycled polyester, 75% of the air unit is recycled TPU, & the outsole is 13% Nike Grind Rubber. Other smaller features like the clips and back tabs are also made from sustainable materials, making this the most environmentally friendly Air Max to date!

Air Max Worldwide 2021

Nike will also be launching AM Day Worldwide, a virtual experience for people to be able to immerse themselves into the world of Air Max by watching, and taking part in activities all paying homage to the Swoosh’s famous line. Events will be taking part all over the world at dedicated times for each city. Look out for creative workshops & exclusive content appearing throughout the day.
