Designer to Watch Wendy Jim FW18
To me, Paris Fashion Week is still one of the best fashion weeks to discover emerging talent like Wendy Jim. WENDY JIM showed their Fall/Winter 2018.19 collection in Paris on Tuesday, March 6th. The brand showed us that luxury streetwear and cool rain gear is still the pieces to have in your wardrobe.
Wendy Jim – The Vienna based design duo Hermann Fankhauser and Helga Ruthner met during their tutelage under Helmut Lang at the Viennese University of Applied Arts in 1999, and have been showing their Men’s and Women’s collections in Paris since. Retailers include 10 Corso Como Milan, Opening Ceremony New York and Los Angeles, and Galeries Lafayette Beijing among others.
Where the collection is stock gives us a little background on the latest instalment of our Designer to Watch. The collection is filled with Anoraks and Jeans. The collection is reminiscent of a Depeche Mode Video mixed with a Cure video mashup.
The designers behind the brand Wendy Jim are riding the wave of culture geared to the gender benders. The collection had feminine sexiness paired with masculine tailoring. It also touched on the workman trends, with silhouettes from a man that works with his hands.
My question is have we seen this before? Can another designer but a spin on what we already know. What do you think?
