I cannot believe Summer is almost here! Are you ready to add more wellness into your life? I am still on my journey of healing myself and changing the way I take care of my mind, body and soul. This Wellness Wednesday I want to share my last adventure that was inspired by Ananda & Asquith.
The activewear brand Asquith invited us to a day of Ayurvedic yoga with the team from the spa Ananda in the Himalayas. We were treated to a relaxing day of yoga that inspired me to live a life like a yogi. I learned that doing a yoga class is not enough, you have to take on the lifestyle choice too.
The perk is looking younger and feeling good in your body and soul.
Healthy Healing with Ananda & Asquith
The leading activewear brand Asquith and the award-winning destination spa Ananda in the Himalayas, invited us to join them for a day of Ayurvedic-inspired healing. It was incredible what I learned and the people I meet and shared this pilgrimage with.
We were educated about the core Ayurvedic principles and how to determine your body and dosha type from Ananda’s Head Ayurvedic Doctor. We started the afternoon with a relaxing Hatha Yoga class and guided meditation session, led by Ananda’s Head of Yoga, Sandeep Agarwalla.
He enlightened us about how beneficial it was to live a real yoga lifestyle. He explained how just taking a yoga class is not enough and how yoga has become an exercise routine and the real elements of a yoga lifestyle sometimes get lost.
He told us a story about his mom and how she lived to about 100 and did not look it at all. Because she lived a life that was a yogi lifestyle, doing yoga was only part of it, healthy eating and thoughts where the other comments of her life.
He had me hooked at this point. Having gone through a traumatic start to the year, I wanted to be at peace with myself and the world, so his methodology spoke to my soul.
After Dr Naresh also provide us with simple guidelines on how to adapt and improve your lifestyle according to your dosha, from when to exercise to what you should eat. It was a bit confusing to figure out what my Dosha was. I am like many people I am between two.
The central concept of Ayurvedic medicine is the theory that health exists when there is a balance between three fundamental bodily bio-elements or doshas called Vata, Pitta and Kapha. Vāta or Vata is characterised by properties of dry, cold, light, minute, and movement. I have a little Vata, and Pitta in me.
In between, we snacked on yummy treats, sipped on tea and water and mingled. The delicious light refreshments were courtesy of Pollen + Grace, with drinks from Skinny Lemon and Pukka Teas.
It was nice to catch up and compare our choices of a healthy lunch and snacks.
Afterwards, we played dress up with the opportunity to try and buy Asquith’s SS18 collection and were personally styled by their Creative Director and Founder, Alice Asquith. Asquith’s collections are ethically made in Europe with eco-friendly bamboo and organic cotton fabrics, with styles specifically designed for yoga, Pilates and living in.
I was so happy to find a sports bra that was so comfortable and easy to take care of. I also picked up a yoga jumpsuit for those day’s I want to go casual cool to the office, so I am ready for my after-work yoga class.
All and all the day was so relaxed and chilled and fit into my wellness plan. It was so hard to leave this environment and reenter the hectic city life. My mind did turn to plan the next vacation to the Himalayas.
I leave you to check out what I mean with this amazing spa and lifestyle clothing brand. Namaste.
