Travel Tuesday :Residence Garda Valtenesi Family Fun and Animals Included Review

This Travel Tuesday we return to Lake Garda, where we stayed at the Residence Garda Valtenesi,  for a few days before heading to Milan. These Holiday apartments, are an ideal residence for your family holiday in Italy. We spent a week in the region and fell in love with  this part of Italy. We often just go to Milan, Florence and Rome, but this past summer we discovered the New Luxury destination close to Lake Garda. Lake Garda is the largest lake in Italy. It is a popular holiday location and is located in northern Italy, about half-way between Brescia and Verona, and between Venice and Milan.

Garda Valtenesi

The area is known for many of the spa’s in the area, but we also like to explore the Bed & Breakfast hotspots like the Garda Valtenesi,we had no idea we would end up staying for a while. I blame it on Elvis the B&B’s king of the land and family dog. He is so feisty and always planing his escape to go visit his local girl friend. The grounds are also some what of a petting zoo with donkeys and goats also calling this family owned and operated establishment home.

The most important aspect to this property is that it’s really a mom and pop operation. What we really enjoyed was eating with the family, and the BBQ pit on the grounds, because who does not love a little BBQ in the summer? While we stayed at the Garda Valtenesi, we were also invited to have a sneak peek of the family archives that will soon become the on site museum. I did not know that this was the Benito Mussolini stomping grounds. I now have a lighter to prove it and great memories spent with Emanuela, Mauro, Elena and Sarah. We hung out poolside, broke bread together and explored the family artifacts. This is a family who has years of experience making wine and olive oil from the region.

Travel Tuesday Garda Valtenesi

After spending time with the owners I learned that is was a long time dream to become the proprietors of a luxury Holiday apartments, and that their daughters loved animals. The habit  of rescuing the neighbourhoods’ animals is what I found quaint about the property. This is a unique experience because you can get the camping element of summer vacation without having to sleep in a tent. The estate is fitting for a family summer holiday.

Garda Valtenesi

In 2009 Garda Valtenesi made a little dream come true. They wanted to give travellers another option other than a five-star hotel in the region to promote the Garda-Lake and its surroundings as well as their excellent products like wine and olive oil. The owners actually ride bicycles around town and is their logo also represents their passion, freedom and a lifestyle  which is in harmony with nature. You will always see Emanuela the momma of the B&B jetting off on her bicycle to run errands. Just know when she returns a traditional breakfast or lunch will be ready and waiting for you to enjoy next to the pool or in the court-yard with a view of the lake and the mountains.

The residence is built around the breathtaking landscape on the countryside. All you have to do is relax, and enjoy the countryside, with the numerous trekking options, with mountain-bike tracks a few meters away and of course the Garda-Lake and its shores. You also have access to golf courses and historical sites nearby too. You can explore the town and visit famous historical sites like the Vittoriano degli Italian, the city of Saló, the castles of Valtenesi, Rocca di Manerba and the valley of Cantieri are in the proximity of the Garda Valtenesi. My favourite part of my stay was eating pizza with Momma and Papa, petting the goats and donkeys, and going through the family archives  of photos, and historical pieces they are curating for the opening of the family museum. I was treated like a daughter and learned many life lessons.

Even though you may feel like you are miles away from civilization, no worries the residence also offers FREE Wi-Fi and barbecue area. All rooms come equip with TV’s, and full kitchens, but you may or may not need it, depending how open you are. I passed most of my time with the family or by the pool. It was hard to leave this Italian family style B&B and especially my new animal friends.
