Congrats to Lourdes “Lola” Leon who’s landed her first beauty campaign fronting the hotly anticipated new Stella McCartney fragrance, aptly named Pop. A celebration of individuality, authenticity and adventure, Summer 2016 sees the launch of a new Stella McCartney fragrance, POP. In the moment, bold, and irreverent, POP is the scent of a new generation, who are coming into their own, true to  themselves and are about to POP.  POP is about a mindset rather than an individual woman. This is echoed in the campaign and video, which capture the free-spirited attitude of the young women who wear it. A celebration of friendship and doing things your own way, the campaign stars four creative talents: musician Grimes (a.k.a Claire Boucher), actress and campaigner Amandla Stenberg, animal activist Kenya Kinski Jones and performing arts student Lourdes “Lola” Leon. Strong on their own, but even stronger together, the girls represent today’s new generation of determined women, and embody a modern liberated approach to beauty.

Both campaign and video were shot in the California desert and follow the four POP muses on a road trip as they embrace their freedom, throw caution to the wind and set off on an adventure. This journey isn’t just literal –these girls are on the verge of big things, about to take on the world and become the women they want to be; these girls are about to POP. They are each in the driving seats of their own lives. Strong-willed, free-spirited, and independent-minded, they’re strengthened by their togetherness.

You’d be darned to find a day of the year as prestigious as the first Monday of May. First held in 1948, the Met Gala, held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, was founded to encourage donations from New York’s high society and today the most recognisable faces from fashion, art, music and film gather to raise money for the Met’s Costume Institute and commemorate the opening of the museums latest exhibition. Founded by Eleanor Lambert, Anna Wintour has taken reign of the event since 1995, raising almost $175 million and enlisting the most prominent names to co-chair the events including the likes of Beyonce, Pharrell Williams, Marc Jacobs and Gisele Bundchen. The 2018 Met Gala, which also marks the 70th anniversary of the soiree will be co-chaired by Amal Clooney, Rihanna and Donatella Versace and sponsors include Apple, Condé Nast, Farfetch, H&M, Maison Valentino and Warner Bros.

The 80s were a fabulous time in fashion. Across the fashion capitals, structured shoulders, bodysuits and sequins were amongst some of the biggest and wildest trends commanding centre stage. While all of that was happening, somewhere, under the warm Californian sun, Shawn Stüssy was somewhere printing t shirts with the same signature that appeared on his surfboards. Probably little did he know that decades later his printed trademark signature on simple graphic tees would decades later play a part in streetwear becoming one of the most lucrative fashion business models of the 21st century.
