3.1 Phillip Lim at Shanghai Fashion Week
Shanghai Fashion Week kicked off last week with the latest in homegrown and international design talent. Details surrounding this autumn’s edition, and a surprise with 3.1 Phillip Lim presenting his collection for Spring Summer 2018, more like an exhibition or presentation of works.
On Saturday, October 14th, 3.1 Phillip Lim unveiled a Spring 2018 exhibition created exclusively for Shanghai Fashion Week – Shanghai International Fashion Showcase. In collaboration with Floral Artist, Mark Colle, Exhibition Designer, Andrew Ondrejcak, and Sound Designer, Sebastien Perrin, visitors entered an immersive experience to discover the Spring 2018 Women’s Collection interpreted entirely through the medium of florals.
3.1 Phillip Lim Exhibition
This exhibition is an opportunity to explore an interconnection of disparate art forms… to reveal something new. Stripping away the physical collection, we looked towards the constant companions of the brand — art, music, interiors — to stage an interpretation of the collection and provide the audience with a different type of experience in which to witness a fashion show. Shanghai is a forward-thinking urban center where the idea of exchange is at the epicenter of the city – a perfect platform to defy expectations and unveil an alternative presentation.
Following a detailed diagram, the visitor will journey through a maze of meticulously designed spaces ranging from the intimate to the expansive. Within each of the carefully created rooms, color, light, sound, and scale coalesce, igniting the visitor’s senses – an open field of dahlias, hydrangeas, and delicate gromphera; a crimson jewel box replete with 9,000 cascading red roses; a chartreuse moss sculpture where delicate ascocenda responds to the human touch with whimsical sound and a cloud-filled sky created entirely by airy, ethereal gypsophila xlence.
3.1 Phillip Lim is honored to bring this journey of creativity to Shanghai and wants to give special thanks to the APAX Group, a global experiential marketing group. Located at HKRI Taikoo Hui, the exhibition will open to the public on Sunday, October 15th, and Monday October 16th from 11 am to 9 pm. We might have to plan a trip to discover it ourselves.
