Celebrities who love to gamble
Celebrities are not always strange recluses with weird pastimes – they’re people, just like everyone else. Gambling has been a pastime for thousands of years and oddly enough, it becomes more enjoyable the more money you have to spend on it. Celebrities often have more money than they know what to do with, so why not spend a bit and have fun at the same time?
The current Batman also shares some of Bruce Wayne’s playboy habits. Affleck is a skilled poker player, who, after learning to count cards, was kicked out of Hard Rock Las Vegas for winning too much. He was told by security that he was “too good at this game.” On another occasion, Affleck reportedly won $145,000 and – before you get too jealous – gave it all away to casino employees. If you’re still jealous, you could try your hand at these live casino table games.
The Baywatch star and model is apparently very into poker. She met her now ex-husband Rick Salomon through playing poker with him, and she reportedly lost $250,000 to him once. Salomon himself is said to have won over $40m in 2014, just from playing poker.
Whether he was “Winning!” or losing, Charlie Sheen went through a period of being a huge gambler. According to Denise Richards, who he was married to, Sheen would spend about $20,000 a week on sports gambling. This came out during their divorce hearings and it’s fair to say that perhaps he’s not someone you should trust with your money.
Yes, John McClane, himself, loves to gamble. He’s had mixed success over the years, known to have been down $100,000 at craps before, as well as winning $500,000 playing baccarat in Atlantic City. One thing’s for sure, however: it can’t be easy facing down that yippee-ki-yay stare and nothing-left-to-lose laugh. Willis was also seen rolling the dice at MGM Grand on the night of the Mayweather vs McGregor fight.
The web-slinger is also a card slinger, as it turns out. He is so into poker (and so suspicious of being cheated) that he takes a $17,000 card shuffling machine with him when he plays. Other players have said that he’s a very sore loser, but he reportedly wins $50,000 a night quite regularly.
This former basketball superstar has a reputation for being into sports betting and losing money. He is well known to be down about $10m. He has admitted to losing a million dollars over 30 times in his life – imagine having the money to do that and not end up bankrupt! He managed to lose $2.5m in a single six-hour session of blackjack.
First gaining prominence as foreign exchange student Nadia in American Pie, Elizabeth has made quite the career out of playing poker. She has competed in several competitions, including the 2005 WSOP Main Event, and her most famous appearance was on the NBC National Heads-Up Poker Championship, in which she reached the semi-finals.
