StyleCartel Team went for a Road Trip to California! We had such an amazing time and we explored the places that definitely have to be added to your must-go list! The first spot I wanted to show you is The Peninsula Beverly Hills.
We had a pleasure to be invited for dinner to the only AAA Five Diamond and Forbes Five Star-rated hotel in Southern California. The Peninsula Beverly Hills offers 194 guest rooms, including 38 suites and 16 private villas, nestled among lush tropical gardens in the heart of Beverly Hills. The Peninsula is located at the intersection of Wilshire and South Santa Monica Boulevards, within easy walking distance of Century City and Beverly Hills’ legendary Rodeo Drive. (Pretty Woman moment anyone?)
Firstly we were given the tour around the hotel, where the old world Hollywood charm meets sophisticated contemporary cuisine at The Peninsula Beverly Hills. The Belvedere, Southern California’s only AAA Five Diamond Award restaurant for 21 consecutive years, is a power lunch favourite that epitomises fine dining, while the relaxed Roof Garden serves healthy California fare. The celebrated Peninsula Afternoon Tea is served in The Living Room, accompanied by the sublime sounds of a classical harpist, while the Club Bar is home to a fine selection of rare whiskies and wines.
Lounge in comfort while enjoying morning coffee or The Peninsula’s legendary Afternoon Tea. The Living Room’s Afternoon Tea menus include an optional glass of Champagne and a tower of traditional high tea requisites; from savoury finger sandwiches to a selection of sweet, bite-sized pastries and scones, all accompanied by the music of a classical harpist.
In the evening, the lilting sounds of the hotel’s resident pianist, Antonio Castillo de la Gala, create a supper club ambience. Spend a romantic evening relaxing on the comfortable couches by the fireplace, indulging in a cocktail and appetizers and enjoying the lovely piano music in The Living Room’s romantic atmosphere.
We were finally guided to the Peninsula Beverly Hills’ unique rooftop al fresco dining spot, which is a favourite with Beverly Hills residents as well as hotel guests. The Roof Garden serves up fresh Californian cuisine throughout the day, with many of the dishes marked with the ‘Naturally Peninsula’ designation, low in fat and cholesterol. On weekends in the summer, chefs barbecue fresh fish, chicken, steaks and the special Angus beef burger served with Maui sweet onion and Hook’s two year aged white cheddar. At the teak bar, or on lounge chairs around the fire pit, select from a list of distinguished wines and Champagnes by the glass, or from a menu of signature cocktails designed for warm-weather sipping.
We were greeted by the lovely Michael Ploetz, The Director of Food & Beverage, who served us with a glass of bubbly Laurent-Perrier Brut to start with. Then delicious AHI TUNA “CHOP-CHOP” was served, which consisted of sliced avocado, crisp pineapple, coquitos Roof Garden picked herbs. Then THE CLASSIC CAESAR salad arrived, and just when I thought you can’t do classic any better…they made shaved Parmigiano-Reggiano, herb croutons house made Caesar dressing with salmon the best Caesar Salad I have ever had! After the delicious meal, there was even more good to come…in the form of three super-delicious desserts, and I still can’t decide which one was the best – Ambrosia Salad, Brownie Sundae or Lemon Cheescake! I was so overwhelmed by the tranquility of this place, the peace and the beauty of its surroudnings, I am definitely coming back there next time I am in LA! And you should too!
