Ralph & Russo Spring/Summer 2018 Haute Couture

Women’s dreams are made of Haute Couture.  You can tell by just looking at the front row of shows like Ralph & Russo.  Ladies of all ages come decked out to the nines all the time.

Ralph & Russo are leading the back when it comes to dressing young celebrities and musicians for the Red Carpet.  Now they have also enlisted influencers in the gang.  As Modelled by a global influencer, Camila Coelho – @camilacoelho closed the show as the bride to be.

Ralph & Russo Spring/Summer 2018 Haute Couture

Ralph & Russo Spring/Summer 2018 couture is a continued celebration of the many facets of all women and the collection pays homage to the Eastern exploration of Creative Director, Tamara Ralph.  It was sexy and saucy at the same time.  With dresses made to shaky your booty a little.

Resonant of traditional Asian decoration and punctuated by imperial red silk crêpe.  With acid green gazar and canary yellow silk satin; the collection is a spectrum of exoticism, with transparent illusion tulle suits, crystal embroidered jacquard and draped kimono-style silhouettes edged in layers of decorative tassels.

Moulded white crêpe jasmine petals and powder blue organza chrysanthemums enhance delicately hand-painted florals and songbirds, whilst tiers of devoré ostrich feathers and chiffon ruffles reflect the features of sacred eastern architecture.

Metallic crystal chainmail and silk lamé return in an underlying theme of reflection, not only of the creative mind and exploration but of the importance of travel for today’s modern woman.  I have to admit Haute Couture is quietly my favorite fashion week. It is what dreams are made of and special moments are meant for. Now that award seasons is in full swing it’s time for some Celebrity Lit Looks of the week to see who’s wearing Ralph & Russo.

Back to the 90s, we went as Prada left its hometown to present its second cruise collection on the seventh floor of the Herzog & de Meuron designed Prada HQ in New York. The star-studded event which saw the likes of Selena Gomez, Dakota Fanning, Marc Jacobs, Uma Thurman and Chloë Sevigny, was also live streamed in Times Square. Floating transparent panels hung in the minimalistic space, some in red to recreate an augmented sunset while mirroring the frenetic energy of New York.

Karl Lagerfeld is no stranger to an extravagant backdrop. Having previously held fashion shows with replicas of the Eiffel Tower, a life-size dollhouse and an airline, it seems only logical that Chanel would preview their Cruise 2019 show… on an actual cruise? You may have noticed the words ‘La Pausa’ on the side of the 330-foot-long ship. Named after a villa in the south of France built by Gabrielle ‘Coco’ Chanel in the 30s, the stunning backdrop majestically sat tall at the Grand Palais in Paris, a month after it was announced that Chanel would be pledging $40 million for restoration.
