A. Human, a new exhibition which opens on the 5th of September in New York as part of New York Fashion Week, explores the Avant-Garde hypotheses of body modification. Showcasing the incredible talent of artist and designer Nicola Formichetti, A. Human will feature pieces such as “biological heels”, shoulder horns and intricate skin like feathers across the chest will be on display exploring the notions of fashion and art when colluded with whimsical and immersive human expression. An idea – which may be light years away from reality, has already got people captivated by the fleshy, sci-fi pieces. With the help of a few big names who have taken to Instagram to showcase the mesmerising work by Nicola Formichetti, it has already generated a buzz about the future of body modification and accessories.

“Fashion is more than the clothes you wear, it’s also the choices you make about your body and how you present yourself. I like pushing the boundaries of what can be considered fashion and finding the edge of self-expression.” The interactive experience was conceptualized by Simon Huck, who enlisted the help of Nicola Formichetti to design the body modification pieces. “We didn’t want to root any of our modifications on the idea of existing insecurities or discomforts. A. Human is about the freedom to explore this world and live in this world in any way you choose”, Huck told Vogue.
