To start off Trend Thursday, I wanted to address one of the biggest trends of 2016, which I think will follow into 2017- Model off Duty. This aesthetic is what seems to be so popular, because it’s so simple yet put together and stylish. This look is inspired by the new trend being models as celebrities. Models are now more than a pretty face, they need to have the personality and social media that fans can follow them on. Look at some of the biggest models of today: Kendall Jenner, Gigi Hadid, and Taylor Hill. Without their huge social media following, would they really be where they are?
What is the trend?
The model off duty look is all about looking crisp and clean. You want to look on trend, and layering basics is the perfect way to do this. All the looks are very classic and simple, although have a street style influence.
5 Must Haves
1- Body Hugging Basic Tops
Models obviously have KILLER bodies, so they want to accentuate them. The perfect way they do this is with basic tight tops. In the winter you can use a long sleeve, or t-shirt, and in the summer go for a bodysuit or cami. You can tie them up like seen above, or layer for a chic look. This will accentuate your waist and look amazing on everyone.
2- Curve Loving Jeans
Everyone wants to have that long and lean look. Having jeans that fit well, are a necessity to complete the Model Off Duty Look. You can wear High-waisted jeans for a more retro look, or a black pair with ripped knees for a street style look.
3- Heeled Boots
The heeled boots (whether ankle or recent trend thigh high) is another great way to accentuate your long legs. This works great for everyone, and can make what may seem like an extremely plain outfit pop.
4- Chic Jacket
The chic jacket goes hand in hand with the importance of layering. When having other basics on, a killer jacket can really bring that extra pop and complete the look. The top trends that we see a lot of include the classic leather jacket, edgy bomber, and the elegant duster.
5- “Top Model”
This is more of a beauty must have. All models love this classic, “rolled out of bed look” which I think really accentuates the simplicity of their style. Besides this being a easy and cute hairstyle, it really accentuates the long neck, beauty of the face, and showcases bone structure.
