To kick off Milan Fashion Week, StyleCartel had the pleasure of covering backstage at the Max Mara Spring/Summer 2013 show to catch the pre-show beautifying routine. The overall theme of Max Mara’s Spring 2013 collection was athletic-chic; Africa and safari style combined with the heritage of the House of Max Mara. Safari jackets, trenches, jumpsuits, and tuxedo classic cult items with a feminine twist. Dust coats and blouson shirts paired with calf-length skirts or trousers with pleats done in a range of safari-like colors: tan, biege, camel, tobacco with cold colder shades of pale and dark blue.
Make-up was soft and subtle complementing the colors of the collection with soft taupey-bronze eyeshadow done in a creamy effortless technique by Tom Pecheux and the MAC PRO team.
Hair was done in a safari-chic style twist pulled to the front and flung loosely to the left side; finished off with a head wrap in soft tobacco earth tones with loose hairs peeking out here and there. Compliments to Luigi Murenu for accomplishing a perfect effortless safari-chic look.
Accessories Story: If you know the Italian House of Max Mara, you know that they complete the look from head to toe designing shoes, bags and sunglasses to complement each collection. For Spring/Summer 2013, the accessories were fashionable mixing patterns, textures and color combinations to compliment the iconic-chic theme.
Handbags: Small bon ton leather bags, maxi wild Boston bags in ultra-soft nappa leather, stamped crocodile or total fur
Shoes: Clogs with a thick heel and alligator, animal or ponyskin print details and wrap around ankle strap details.
