LVMH Prize 2018 : Doublet the big winner

LVMH PRIZE 2018 Laureate, Masayuki Into

June 6th. The LVMH prize’s jury gave its verdict. Doublet by Masayuki Ino won. Emma Stone presented the award to the winner.

After a six month compétition. It’s at Foundation Louis Vuitton, that Masayuki Ino founder of Doublet received his award. He won the LVMH prize of 2018. The designer receives 300 000 euro. He will also benefit from personal advising to develop his brand. Three fashion graduates are rewarded. Archie M. Alled-Martinez, Maya Chantout, and Scylia Chevaux. They will respectively join Studios of different houses. Givenchy, Céline et Louis Vuitton.

A hard decision for the members of LVMH jury. Composed by Karl Lagerfeld (Fendi), Nicolas Ghesquière (Louis Vuitton), Delphine Arnault (director and executive vice president of Louis Vuitton), Clare Waight Keller (Givenchy), Humberto Leon et Carol Lim (Kenzo), J.W Anderson (Loewe), Maria Grazia Chiuri (Dior), Marc Jacobs (Marc Jacobs), Jean-Paul Claverie (director and philanthropy manager of LVMH) et Sydney Toledano (CEO of LVMH fashion group).

Tough competition

At the beginning it’s 1 300 applicants, the jury managed to decide and choose 9 talented designers such as : A-cold-wall by Samuel Ross, Botter by Rushemy Botter & Lisi Herrebrugh, Charles Jeffrey Loverboy by Charles Jeffrey, Doublet by Masayuki Ino, Eckhaus Latta par Zoe Latta & Mike Eckhaus, Americans based in New York and Los Angeles, Kwaidan Editions by Léa Dickely & Hung La, French designers et américano-vietnamese from Londres, Ludovic de Saint Sernin by the French Ludovic de Saint Sernin, Matthew Adams Dolan by Matthew Adams Dolan et Rokh by Rok Hwang, Korean based in London.

These Candidates knew out to stand out. Concerning the jury, they finally decide to choose the winner: Mayasuki Ino. But who is he? It’s been almost two years since he started to catwalk his designs influenced by streetwear with sophisticated finishes. For example, he presented, during the competition, a collection highly colored with lots of creativity. Hangers or even t-shirts in noodles boxes. And to get the t-shirt and its normal form you have to water it. Through its creativity, Doublet is a promising brand.
