StyleCartel decided to take a min-pre summer vacation kicking off in Paris, with two days in London and ending the week in Brussels. We were on the hunt for stylish new hotspots for our guide to Luxury for less this summer, your guide to Paris, London and Brussels Hotspots. From our home base in Paris we booked our tickets on Eurostar, the quickest route to all the three cities for our little European cultural adventure. It’s best is to book early, flights may seem cheap, but once you calculate the airplane ticket plus the expense of getting from the airport to the centre of Paris, London and Brussels it’ easier, cheaper and faster to travel on the Eurostar.
As an added bonus, Eurostar is running a sale throughout the summer with 30% off Eurostar Standard Premier travel. Standard Premier class is available for bookings to Paris, Brussels or Lille made from 13th to 24th June, for travel from 16th July to 15th September. All from £74 for a one way ticket.
In Paris we checked into the Shangri-La Hôtel, Paris , suite 702 (with the most amazing view) had breakfast, and a little “Style Sessions” therapy. This is the spot we usually visit during Paris Fashion Week, but it was wonderful to luxuriate in its stylish accommodations as a special treat. After our tour of the hotel it, was off to the Gare du Nord Eurostar terminal to catch our train to London.
With just 48 hours in London we had time to try only the best hotspots in town. Russian restaurant Mari Vanna London is one location of this international Russian chain was first on our list. Lunch with our fellow London foodie blogger Chef Sally, proved to be the perfect lunch date because she grew up during the “Evil Empire” days of the 1980s in Moscow and speaks Russian. Read more on what StyleCartel and Chef Sally Jane ate and experienced after spending three hours in a “Little Piece of Russia” in Mari Vanna, “a taste of the motherland.. On Chef Sally’s blog. With summer knocking at our doorstep and an editor not happy with her hair, we booked an appointment at the last minute with Hair Organics. An organic hair salon and Hotspot number two Notting Hill. Our editor Shari had a hair emergency and needed a touch up job. Hair Organics to the rescue! The Salon uses all natural products and can correct you kitchen beautician hair colorizing botch job in no time. We learned first hand how good these guys are. Read more about Shari’s personal experience the “Hip and Healthy” way in Notting Hill.
Fed and beautified, we decided to take a city-break from Central London hotels and head to the border between Zone 2 and Zone 3 on the District Line in fashionable Putney. Our secret digs for our stay were The Lodge Putney; which the locals call Rugby town. The Lodge is situated in attractive tree-lined Putney, minutes from Wandsworth and the River Thames. For once I wished it was raining in London. The Lodge Putney; was so cozy and sexy, with a lovely rose garden outside and an in-house restaurant where English-style breakfast was survived daily from 7AM to 10 AM (they even catered to me desire for yummy veggie sausages). The Lodge Putney was far enough away from Central London to call it a city break and close enough to get to Central London in 20-=30 minutes.
It’s close proximity was a godsend our second morning as we had a business breakfast meeting at Automat American Brasserie, in the Heart Of Mayfair London. Pancakes, fruit, steak and eggs, and then properly full and business sorted, off to catch our Eurostar to Brussels. The StyleCartel team decided to take a digital break in Brussels. It was our first time visiting this European summer hotspot. The sun was shining and it was hot in the city. Luckily Je parle la langue française so, navigating our way to The Hotel Brussels était très facile. Beware there are two hotels with similar names but are two totally different hotels. Make sure your GPS is working so you check into The Hotel Brussels Boulevard de Waterloo 381000 BRUSSE.
My favourite moment in Brussels had to be arriving at the Brussels Midi Station (Eurostar & Thalys) just 1.9 miles, about 7 minutes, from our hotel. Cartoon images of Tin Tin greeted us everywhere and reminded me of how I started my love affair with the French language.
Eurostar passengers can also enjoy some of their chosen city’s cultural charms at a reduced rate, with 2-for-1 entries into a wide range of top museums and galleries on presentation of their Eurostar ticket. Upcoming exhibitions include Manet at the Musée d’Orsay (Paris) and Giorgio Morandi at Bozar (Brussels).
