In his fifth resort show for Louis Vuitton, stars including Emma Stone, Mark Ronson, Sienna Miller, Justin Theroux and Ruth Negga, amongst 600 other guests made their way up to the southern French hilltop village of Saint-Paul-de-Vence for the show. Nicolas Ghesquière recently announced on Instagram that he had renewed his contract with Louis Vuitton with the hashtag #notgoinganywhere, a Grace Coddington collaboration was also revealed, with the fashion editor having created a capsule line of accessories that’s set to exclusively arrive in stores in October 2018. “My collaboration with Nicolas and his team at Louis Vuitton has been so much fun. I hope it will be a dream come true for Pumpkin, Blanket and Nicolas’ dog – it certainly is for me. It started with our love for animals, it’s where Nicolas and I really connect beyond fashion,” said Coddington.
It was a free-flowing yet 80s-esque inspired show, with models strutting down the runway in sliced up sleeves, cut out dresses and prints from plaid to polka dots to stripes and geometric motifs. Vest jackets with curved lapels, ruffle neck blouses pleated dresses and mismatched layering was dominant at the start of the show, while a glossy vinyl jacket made its way into the mix, while silk slip dress, shorts and tops were adorned with lace trimmings. Bird feathered jackets in colourful hues were paired with skimpy pleated shorts. The LV trainers that almost everyone on the fashion scene is obsessed with was given an update in a thigh-high style with the chunky futuristic sole, as sunglasses and large earrings also accessorised the looks.
