JULIEN FOURNIÉ HAUTE COUTURE FW19/20 COLLECTION SHOW 10TH ANNIVERSARY

Style Cartel is one of the few blog magazines that covers Haute Couture. We speak French and can say it correctly. This year we have seen a load of 10th-anniversary collections in Fashion. The house and JULIEN FOURNIÉ HAUTE COUTURE is another designer to celebrate their double-digit year in 2019.

On the occasion of his House’s 10th anniversary, Julien Fournié pays tribute to women who derogate, transform and transcend the social codes which were designed to enclose their gender. In my eyes, the designer showcased that women can be either good witches or bad witches, yet we all share the same desire to be treated like a queen and get married. He dressed a plethora of different personalities.

Julien asks his fans to cast a new spell on the universe to release women from the chains that bind our femininity and power. Since the dawn of time, the most terrible spell was always cast on us ladies.

When in the grade of overcoming the limits which patriarchal cultures had imposed on us, female healers, alchemists or scholars, were systematically labeled evil, accused of witchcraft and burnt at the stake. Like most witches like myself, we promote white magic, with healing and natural remedies. We guess healing and help are against the morals of men.

“I have always found witches more stimulating than repulsive,” says Julien Fournié. “Women called by that name do cultivate independence, possess a sense of adventure and stimulate the imagination, opening up to a magical world.”

The collection is one I can actually relate to. Women have power running through our veins. It might take some time for us to understand that our instinct is our power, but the designer takes this as inspiration for his 10th-anniversary collection. Making us as is this really for an Haute Couture collection or are these the costumes for the Witches Ball? You decide.

“Haute Couture and magic do share a taste for the accumulated experience and the knacks of the trade. Official education often underrates and depreciates this kind of knowledge,” says Julien Fournié. “I am convinced that combining the empirical and the innovative is the best way to save nature, humanity, and change the world so that the free exultation of minds and bodies can never be associated again with devilish Sabbaths.”
