Givenchy will present her first standalone menswear collection, after being chosen as the first guest designer for the upcoming SS20 Pitti Uomo trade show in Florence on June 12th. This comes after British Design Clare Waight Keller’s debut menswear collection with a lookbook for AW19 earlier this year. Waight Keller will follow on from Craig Green in 2017 and Glenn Martens of Y/Project in 2018.
“January was almost like the first chapter in the book. Pitti is the opportunity to take that step into a much broader collection, and that’s a big opportunity for me to really express what I want to do, and also just my more rounded vision of what I want for the Givenchy man.” Waight Keller told WWD.
“We aspire to offer both men and women the opportunity to create full looks for themselves within the collection, or even shop in one another’s territory — that’s very common at Givenchy,” Chief Executive Officer of Givenchy Philippe Fortunato told WWD.
Clare Waight Keller’s recognition has skyrocketed at the house of Givenchy, having designed Megan Markle’s wedding dress in and winning the British designer of the year womenswear award at the British Fashion Award.
