Get Your Beauty Sleep with these Anti-Snoring Techniques

Get Your Beauty Sleep

We all know the way a person looks after a night of not being able to sleep and many of us have been in that position. We can’t look our best because we don’t feel our best. With everything else that can prevent us from sleeping, snoring doesn’t help on top of it.

In order to change this, it’s important to get your beauty sleep. This might sound like a challenge, but there are some things you can do to stop snoring or help your spouse stop snoring so you can get the beauty sleep you need!

Diffuser or Mister

The first thing you can do is try using a diffuser or mister. You put essential oils into it and it heats it up and makes steam. There are so many different scents and you can let it run all night. To help stop your snoring, you want to put an essential oil that is good for clearing up your nasal passages. This will help clear them out and make it easier for air to flow through. Some of these oils are: peppermint, eucalyptus, lavender and rosemary. Of course, there are others that will help but these are the ones that are most common.

Stop Snoring Aids

Another thing you could try are anti snoring devices. People usually opt for mouth guards and pillows because they are the most affordable and easiest to use. Not only do they have ones that are just basic products, but they also have ones that can be more customized. For example, some mouth guards can be molded into the exact shape of your teeth and bite once you bite down. These are more effective than basic ones because it helps ensure it’s a good fit and there aren’t any huge gaps. As for pillows, some of them have controls that will let you adjust what position your head sits in, which can help air pass easier.

Avoid Big Meals

One of the biggest things you can do to help eliminate snoring is to avoid eating big meals before bed. The main reason why big meals make you snore is because digestion can relax your throat muscles. If they relax too much, air is going to have a hard time getting through and it’s going to cause your throat walls to vibrate. If you’re hungry before bed, try eating a small snack. Some good ideas are: some trail mix, some peanut butter, popcorn or a handful of nuts.

Keep a Healthy Weight

You also want to make sure you keep a healthy weight. When you weigh more than what you should according to your height, there are some issues that can come up. For starters, heavier weight can cause the neck muscles to get bulky. This results in everything being squished together and not being able to get the amount of airflow needed. Another thing that can happen is the extra weight can put pressure on your lungs. This will also prevent air from being able to pass through correctly because it’s all squished up. Even if you lose just a few pounds, you should start to see a pretty big difference.

Sleep on Your Side

Finally, you can try sleeping on your side. When you lay on your back, your tongue can fall backwards and cause restricted airflow. This restricted airflow will cause vibrations in your throat. Sometimes, people start off on their side but end up on their back. If this is the case, there are a few things you can do. For starters, try putting a pillow in front of and behind you. This will keep you in the same position. The other thing that you can do is put something hard against your back. When you roll, your body will subconsciously roll back on your side.

As you can see, all of these are pretty simple. They don’t cost a whole lot of money and you won’t really lose anything by trying. Who knows, you might be able to find a method that works every single time!
