A Healthy and Cool Place to Take a Date
Dating is hard, but imagine if you are a vegetarian or vegan? It’s even harder. I am lucky my partner is trying to give up meat too. Together we have set out to find cool places to go eat and we found another one. Dead Dolls House in Islington.
My partner and I fell in love with the place because they played one of his favorite movies on the restaurants brick wall while we were on our weekly date night. We ate healthily, talked and watched ‘ The Good, The Bad and The Ugly.
We arrived at the restaurant at the haunting hour just before the kitchen closed. The staff and the interior were inviting and warm. Lucky for us on this night it also seemed like it was couples night. The restaurant was dotted with couples in every corner. This was a cute and coquettish and place to be on a date. My partner was happy, which was my plan.
Take a Date to Dead Dolls House
Like many restaurants in London, they are starting to change the menu a little and cater to clients like me. I am the type of person who does not always need to go to a totally Vegan restaurant, hate to say it but it gets a bit boring. Not everyone in my click is vegetarian or vegan.
They are now offering some highly nourishing BOWLS to their A La Carte menu. Sure, the Green bowl – kale, broccoli, feta, pomegranate, avocado, poached egg, dukkah (£12) has got all your feel-good faves, but it is also bursting with powerful flavour, creamy goodness and introduces a very moreish middle eastern spice blend of herbs, freshly toasted nuts and seeds aka dukkah.
We shared the bowl with the boy eating the egg. I have never liked eggs, but the bowl was enormous. It was almost too much for two. Yet, exactly what we wanted vegetables. As well as healthy virgin cocktails.
We did not stop there, we also ordered the taleggio sandwich with red onion toastie. Yummy, we shared that too, because the sandwich was enough for two, believe me. We also ordered the charcoal grilled bread with dips like hummus and guacamole. When we realized the restaurant is not stingy with the bread. Our eyes were absolute to big for our stomachs.
Alongside all the tasty, new dishes, Dead Dolls House also introduce their omg healthy cocktails menu. Invigorating twists on classics are available like orange & turmeric margarita – tequila, lime, turmeric agave, orange & ancho turmeric salt rim as well as herbal remedies to rejuvenate the post-festive soul like deep blue – rum, pinot noir, pomegranate, lemon, angostura, strawberry, blackberry, blueberry. And for those who like their drinks to sing and soothe at the same time, they have the seriously omg night vision – tequila, carrot juice, grapefruit juice, lemon juice, aloe vera juice. This menu is crammed with more juices, fruits, and superfoods than a health store fridge and every cocktail costs £11.
So if you are dating a vegan, vegetarian or a health nut then I highly recommend booking a table at Dead Dolls House. We actually stayed until closing, but really to the end of the movie. So our weekly date night was a success.
The location and allowed us to eat healthily and talk intimately. Score for great date spot with healthy choices. As well as a safe place to go on a first date. Just make friends with the bartender if you need to make your escape.
