The Clover Canyon Pre-Fall 2016 collection returns to the Mediterranean. The collection is inspired by Moorish tiles and the Spanish Islamic cocktail of the city of Sevilla, Spain. A very retro 70s collection with patterned foulards, plaids and paisley patterns.
The collection is for rambling rose Sevillanas, complete with graphic stripes, and ancient geometric patterns that collide on satin in fluid bias slips and mid calf grazing skirts. A draped chiffon top and dress in a flowing yet slight silhouettes with crocheted bibs are layered beneath light ribbed knit tunics.
Daywear that is actually anywhere clothing. We would not be surprised to see a few of these pieces at a Art Basel.
The creative design team behind Clover Canyon traveled through Seville where Islamic and Christian places of worship were built atop one another creating a confluence of architectural forms which have peacefully co existed throughout the centuries.
The region is rich bazar of colors and patterns to work with and to be inspired by. The details of the garments reflect the architecture of the city and normal old city fashion of the artisans of times past. From culotte pants to gladiator chunky sandals worn with socks.
For Pre fall, Clover Canyon draws on the rich traditional mosaic of Spanish, Islamic patterns, Andalusian Flamenco dance with silk fringe in flight of its matriarch’s fierce, commanding movement.
A subtle Arabesque and restraint of contemporary design converge to express a memory; scent of orange blossoms in the Palace of Alcazar, Seville, near the port of the world’s earliest transatlantic commerce. A time return to a time with details meant everything and made for a time when casual clothing needs a little upgrade. The collection is for women who like the Boho Chic look for everyday and on holiday.
