Skincare

I had the clearest, soft, radiant skin when I was a teenager. But I didn’t take care of my skin. Genetically I have the mix of my mom’s great radiant skin under this inflamed cyst acne my dad passed on to me. I believe acne is hereditary. I assume clear skin is a blended cocktail regarding everything you eat, water consumption, skincare routine, vitamin supplements, hormone levels, etc. My goal for the end of this year is to have clear, smooth, radiant skin like I had when I was a teenager. Besides, this journey demands trial and error. At the start of this journey, I went through several different beauty products. A lot of those products didn’t work for me. Momentarily, I don’t have severe acne. My job does require me to have clear skin. It’s difficult working and fighting acne. As a full-time model, I do require getting my makeup done. Makeup can take a little longer with my hyperpigmentation. To get my perfect match, makeup artists use two different colours of foundation. My skin at the start of this year was dull-looking, tired, and very inflamed. I was over it, honestly. Acne hyperpigmentation also scars take time to heal. Reader’s don’t lose hope. I was starting to lose my hope until I got a grip. I couldn’t help but think if I want clear skin I have to work for it. I believe consistency is key. Also, try releasing stress with yoga or meditation. Remember to drink your 2L water a day. I adopted my new beauty routine. However, I need to confess that I am not sure if it’s my lack of drinking alcohol or sunscreen or my newly adapted keto diet. These are the products currently helping me combat acne hyperpigmentation and scars.

PRO TIP: It is essential to use sunscreen. Particularly, when you have hyperpigmentation.

I have continued using Peter Thomas Roth masks for the last year. I prefer them. For my acne-prone skin, the Irish moor black mask wins. This mud mask purifies also decongests your pores. The added fragrances from masks irritate my skin. Here is a completely odourless one with no added fragrances. Ingredients include Hijiki Seaweed, Volcanic Ash, Activated Charcoal and Irish Moor Mud. The mask is very thick but hydrating. It visibly minimizes the appearance of my pores. It leaves my skin feeling fresh, hydrated and glowing. Overall the best mask in skincare.

    BEST OVER THE COUNTER PEEL

I’ll spend 60 dollars on my face mask. However, I will not spend money to go to get a 120-200 dollar facial. I am not going to sugar-coat this one for you. This little miracle peel is hell on your face. For the first few uses at least it is. It looks so scary. I look like I am doing a vampire facial. When I started using this product, I wanted to wash it off immediately. I never felt my face so much stinging in my life. As they say, beauty is a pain. I must say after the pain I suffered for 10 minutes, I looked radiant. This magical peel was highly recommended by The Ordinary for acne-prone skin. Now, this magical little peel I use 2x a week. It is to dimish the look of acne. Personally, it helped a lot with some texture I had on my skin from an allergic reaction to MAC cosmetics. PS: It has salicylic acid for those active blemishes.
