Balmain designs Paris Opera Ballet Costumes

Opéra de Paris x Balmain

As we all know, Olivier Rousteing, the creative head of Balmain made very big steps. Since the day he became creative director at the fashion house, he has been successful. After many collaborations, different creations and final steps, he decided to take a national step to keep the French heritage.

Olivier Rousteing, the talented creative director of Balmain fashion house collaborates with Paris Opéra. The fashion designer will create their costumes for the “Renaissance” show. It will be on stage at Opéra Garnier from June 13 until June 19.

Olivier himself states, “With the world of the Opéra de Paris, we are opening up a new sector and a new era for Balmain. It’s a really nice validation of my style and a way of showing you can remain international even while being very Parisian.”

Balmain keeps French

In this case, dancer and choreographer Sébastien Bertaud will work with Olivier Rousteing. Different names, different categories of art and same mission in one project. Very impressive for the audience who will watch the ballet.

Until now, Olivier worked with a lot of celebrities who dance on stage. (including Rihanna and Beyoncé) But this time, it is a different story because classic ballet contains a lot of technics and details. It is important that dancers are much comfortable in their costumes as they are in their skins. Choosing the right fabric, using right patterns and sewing methods for this ballet requires a lot of concentration and effort. At the same time, this project will open new doors for Balmain. In terms of their marketing strategy, they have been very international for a long time. Regarding this situation, they could “refresh” their French brand identity by keeping it in a more traditional and ordinary way with this collaboration.

We are looking forward to see the upcoming result in June!
