With colourful printed chiffons showcasing Katya’s prints alongside clear vinyl coats and pants. Oversized loosely knitted tops and trousers designed to show off the wearer’s body and hand-painted metallic jeans concur up the image of an artist at work in the studio.
The runway show held on September 5th during New York Fashion Week featured some of the world’s top male models such as Martin Conte and Ibrahim Baath. Alongside the newest kids on the block such as twins Aaron and Andrew Laporte all sporting long-dreaded hairstyles a la Basquiat.
Behind the scenes, Leonovich handprinted the runway backdrop the night before and also collaborated with Andrew Werner’s Fleur’d Pins. Who created the perfect boutonnieres for the showing. We had the opportunity to ask the brain behind the brand Katya Leonovich a few questions to learn more about the brand and our mutual love for the icon Jean Michel Basquiat.

FIX AND FAX SS20
Leonovich’s new concept for combining the works of art and fashion relates to her concept of creating what she refers to as “moving art”, which to Leonovich refers to complete freedom and expression. It is always lovely to get to know a female designer who is living her dream.
It is interesting to see Katya Leonovich combine her love and art and fashion create a collection that is so on-trend. She has her pulse on what today’s urban city man want to wear and gives today’s young man an art lesson along the way. Long live the great Jean Michel Basquiat. Thank you Katya Leonvich.
