#TravelTuesday In the Heart of Istanbul The Hammamhane Boutique Hotel
We continue our trip to through Turkey with a stay at the Hammamhane Boutique Hotel, this was an ideal location for the team to stay in comfort, meet the locals, the artist set and conduct a day of fashion and lifestyle editorials. The owners like to call it the The Hammamhane Apart Hotel. Surrounded by antique jewellery and furniture shops. Why not have fun in the city and hangout and shop locally? The Boutique Hotel Address: Firuzağa Mh., Çukur Cuma Caddesi No:45, 34425 Beyoğlu/İstanbul, Turkey.Yes, the name Hammamhane and the location of the Turkish hotel have meaning.
The Hammamhane Apart Hotel Istanbul, Turkey
In Turkish, the origin of the word, ‘hamam’ comes from the ‘hammam’ in arabic. And since saying ‘hammam’ looks cute to the owners, they dedcided to call the hotel ‘our hammam’. HAMMAMHANE opened its doors in 2006 and its sister next door on the block. The partners started and completed the construction on both buildings and decided to call them HAMMAMHANE, meaning ‘hammam-house’ in Turkish.
The property is located next to one of the oldest hammam’s in Istanbul. At the time of our visit the hammam was under renovation slated to open in 2016, to complement The Hammamhane Boutique Hotel. In 2016 they hoteliers want to unveil the CUKURCUMA HAMMAM that will be connected to the The Hammamhane Boutique Hotel. We without a doubt plan to return to The Hammamhane Boutique Hotel to check out the hammam.
The hotel is definitely a place that people will want to gather and enjoy a real turkish experience. The people and the country are very charming. Bulent and Bora are always at The Hammamhane Boutique Hotel, to help you organize your visit to the city and give you your first tram card to get around. It is much easier to take the tram then to spend money in a taxi and stuck in traffic. Thanks Bulent, for the tips. The staff is there for any questions, such as reservations, tips about Istanbul and where to eat locally. They also welcome you during your luxury stay, to have turkish tea, breakfast, or lunch with friends and new clients on the terrace. Where you can people watch and normal life pass you by. You really can see East meets West in the neighbourhood that encompasses the hotel.
The Rooms are like an industrial artist pad in any modern city. HAMMAMHANE is on Cukurcuma Street. Actually, Cukurcuma has given its name to the surrounding area and is labled the SOHO of Istanbul. A lot of young artists live around the area and some of them have galleries there too. You are on the fringe of local people who live in the area, pretty antique shops and little cafes on the side streets. Close by on Cukurcuma Street, you can also visit ‘Museum of Innocence’, which belongs to Nobel Prize winner author Orhan Pamuk.
The perfect room and lighting for a traveling fashionista to get ready for a big day of meet and greets with locally based fashion designers. Our suite slept four with two a joining separate bedrooms. One with a queen sized bed and the other with two doubled beds, With enough room for luggage and equipment. Plus enough room to relax, lounge, work and chill out on the terrace. The room was also fully equipped with a medium-sized refrigerator, full kitchen and even a washer and dryer. Our home away from home for the next four days in Istanbul until our next adventure in Turkey days later. We were ready to move in and stay a while. We even had mannequins in the room, if we needed to sew or stitch something.
This was one of the first hotel’s I have stayed in, in a long time that caters to the female and male travellers, with little touches for both sexes to feel at home. Women need space to get ready and men need things just to be silly and relax while on a business trip or vacation. The rooms are bright and with a boudoir style vanity and industrial style dressing to make yourself at home for however long you plan to stay. The hotel’s location also complements both the female and male traveler to Istanbul, Turkey. The hotel is very close to all tourist attractions by tram only a few feet away. You can get lost in the neighbourhood too, discover the square, vintage shops, local pomegranate juice vendors and little boutiques off the beaten track right at its doorstep.
The Hammamhane Apart Hotel is designed to contrast the old and the new and is furnished with contemporary elements. The lovely 13 home aparts in the new building are organized to cater to every need of its guests. Hamamhane was never designed as a hotel but rather a place where the visitor of the city will certainly feel at home. You’ll find 3 suites plus 10 separate homely studio apartments having all the household goods and also you’ll find a warmly decorated lobby-breakfast room. There is also high speed internet and wi-fi that works well, through-out the hotel and in rooms. Plus of course cable, with multiple news channels in multiple languages. They’re also expanding with a new restaurant in the sister building. As you can see we enjoyed our time spent at the Hammamhane Apart Hotel.
