Not So New Face Emely Montero
This Model Madness Monday story is long over due. I guess Ms. Emely Montero is back on her game full-time now and we could not resist to shout about this Dominican beauty. I recently ran into her in Paris again on her way to the Dior show in Japan. Emely is one of the sweetest new faces and hearted me when we left the metro. Our first encounter was after she walked Miu Miu for the first time.
Born/Live Providence , RI / NYC
This pretty ballerina caught the modeling bug when she started taking
modeling classes to help her with her posture when she realized that she loved modeling and that is where it all started. Yet, Emely always knew she had to finish school. This is why she is still a new face, when her career first started to stop to finish school, she is a very smart young lady.
Her come back was not missed and she was named one of the top 10 New Comers by models.com. She has a killer look and knows how to work the camera and walk the runway. Emely has rocked the catwalks of Proenza Schouler, J.W. Anderson, Giles, Prada, Marni and Viktor & Rolf just to name a few in her short career. Her latest achievement the Esprit Dior Tokyo Pre Fall 2015 Show. Emely has arrived and like she keeps telling me.
I’m back Baby!!
Why she made the cut? Emely caught the eye of casting director Ashley Brokaw, who selected her to debut as a Miu Miu exclusive during the Fall/Winter 2013 season. Where we first meet in Paris and has always been nice to the people who have helped her in the past. Following sher debut on the runway, she decide to finish her studies before returning to the catwalk. Montero’s runway absence was for 18 months and could have hurt her career, but luckily she came back with a bang! Now she is represented by a new management team at Wilhelmina Models, 18 year old Montero reemerged at the Spring/Summer 2015 collections ready for to light the runway on fire.
Emely Montero would walk for the major players in today’s fashion world like Rag & Bone and Proenza Schouler during New York Fashion Week. There was no stopping Montero she also booked the London shows at Giles, Preen, J.W. Anderson, Mary Katranzou, Marios Schwab, and Erdem. In Milan, a city known for being particularly brutal towards models of color, Montero proceeded unperturbed with three ultra-blue chip bookings for Prada, Marni, and Missoni. During the final leg of the Paris collections, IMA encountered Montero at the Cédric Charlier castings and was transfixed by her beguiling mix of in your face beauty and tough chic. While demonstrating her fierce runway swagger for casting director Paul Louisor, Montero exuded that elusive star quality that few established models let alone newcomers possess. With her final turn on the runway for Viktor & Rolf, Montero left now doubt that she is back baby.
