Catherine Deane Supports the UNLIMITED CHILD
StyleCartel enjoys nothing more then to report on Fashion with a Cause. When we heard the news about Catherine Deane teaming up with the UNLIMITED CHILD, we had to help spread the news. Now day’s hipsters want to spend their money wisely and give back to the world. This is the same feeling I get from Hong Kong based luxury womenswear designer Catherine Deane , who is fast becoming a ‘name to watch’ on both sides of the Atlantic not only for her gorgeous gowns, but for her heart too.
Catherine’s touch is to frequently combine a sensual use of fine fabrics, directly draped around the female form during the design process, with crafted tailoring techniques. The result; distinctly breath taking, flatteringly wearable dresses and separates that make the wearer feel beautiful. A refocus for 2012 on what the brand does best – occasion-wear dresses, both full length gowns and cocktail – has fuelled the exciting energy building around the brand with Catherine’s collections being seen as filling a gap in the market for stunning garments that can hold their own on a rail alongside Lanvin, Gucci and Celine, but at far more accessible price points. Key styles have been selling out fast at Harvey Nichols in the UK and Neiman Marcus in the States as well as flying through the virtual check out on My Wardrobe and Shopbop.com.
In 2010 the brand was acquired to create a partnership between Catherine Deane and the Singapore FJ Benjamin who already had their own fashion brand Raoul. This is a huge achievement as it gives Catherine the opportunity to take the brand to the next level and expand worldwide.
“My work is a very personal expression of my observation of nature and beauty, my exploration of culture, people and places, and a strong faith in an extraordinary outcome. I use the craft techniques as my starting point and develop in an organic process of layering and sometimes taking away until I find I have reached a balance in each piece.”
In May 2012 Catherine confirmed an ambassadorial role with the South African based charity, the Unlimited Child. For every dress sold, starting with the Autumn Winter 2012 collection, the brand will make a donation equivalent to a whole year’s educational toys for one under privileged child. Now this is Christmas in July. Thinking about dropping a pretty penny for a dress for that special occasion this summer, the have a look at the Catherine Deane collection and help a child before Christmas this year. Not only will you look good you can support fashion with a cause by supporting the South African based charity, the Unlimited Child and make a difference one child at a time.
