Maison Martin Margiela Collection ‘Artisanal’ printemps/été 2012 Video Blog

The presentation for the Maison Martin Margiela Collection ‘Artisanal’ printemps/été 2012, during Paris Fashion Week Couture spring/summer 2012 was held at Le Comptoir Général, Paris 10e. The décor was African funk chic returns to le salon.

It was a comfy and cosy rainy day in Paris on 25 Janvier 2012  à La Maison du Margiela who treated us to a French breakfast.

Since the early days of La Maison du Margiela circa 1988, MMM has collected used-and sometimes new-clothes, accessories and objects from around the world.

One of the cornerstones of the Maison’s creative expression is resurrecting these vintage pieces and recasting them in a new way that preserves the mark of time, in addition to reworking, reinterpreting and compiling clothing into new materials.

Margiela seems to make modern retro couture, always  keeping  to the standard that is couture. Each piece is made entirely by hand in the Maison’s artisanal atelier.

The Maison made the models strike a pose in front of each little cosy white sofa where the editors could get a close up.  In MMM style their faces were covered, so a girl had to have swag to stand out in the crowd.  Each of the looks had a name which made the collection more interesting.  You could see something from your grandmothers closet or even her button jar, mixed with a couture hipster lovers dream.
