LOUIS VUITTON FLASH: THE RETROSPECTIVE OF ARTIST YAYOI KUSAMA AT TATE MODERN LONDON

Who: LOUIS VUITTON SUPPORTS THE RETROSPECTIVE OF ARTIST YAYOI KUSAMA 

What: Louis Vuitton is the principal supporter of the Yayoi Kusama exhibition at Tate Modern – the most comprehensive retrospective to date of the works of Kusama. The exhibition will feature numerous artworks in various media including painting, sculpture, installation and film. Kusama and Louis Vuitton will also collaborate for the first time on an installation in the Louis Vuitton Bond Street Maison dedicated exhibition space. Previous artists exhibiting work within the area have included John Stezaker, Tracey Emin and Grayson Perry.

 Artis Info: Yayoi Kusama’s (b.1929) pioneering work spans over six decades and this exhibition will highlight the artist’s moments of most intense innovation. Kusama is one of Japan’s best-known living artists and since the 1940s she has developed an extensive body of work. From her earliest explorations of painting in provincial Japan to new unseen works, the exhibition at Tate Modern will reveal a history of successive developments and daring advances, demonstrating why Kusama remains one of the most engaging practitioners today.

Yayoi Kusama is curated by Frances Morris, Head of Collection, International Art, Tate with Rachel Taylor, Assistant Curator, Tate Modern. The exhibition has been organised by Tate Modern in collaboration with the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofia, Madrid; Centre Pompidou, Paris and the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York. It will be accompanied by a major new catalogue and the first English translation of Yayoi Kusama’s autobiography Infinity Net.

This is a must see exhibition for a hipster who has a stop over in London and not Paris. Louis Vuitton provides a little world class culture starting January 9th in London.  For a fashionista in town for London Fashion Week, who needs a break from shows.
