Runway Report Chado Ralph Rucci Spring 2012 Collection

Chado Ralph Rucci is a veteran on the New York fashion week circuit. The show was one of the hottest tickets for the week. Chado is know for not courting the celebrity crowd, but is loved by them for the couture element of each collection. Many whispered that he should really shown in Paris for just that reason.

Trend: Glossy white neoprene coat with exaggerated, rounded sleeves; a signature printed caftan encrusted here and there with clusters of colorful crystals; and a baby pink caviar-beaded catsuit topped by a gazar feathered tunic. There was even a flapper number keeping up with trend for S/S 2012.

Signature wool skirt suits, dresses inserted with clear plastic rather than the horsehair he usually uses. Occasionally, the plastic insets grew to deep cuffs on the sleeves of a coat or even the entire back of a jacket. Their were matching shoes and driving gloves made out of plastic too.

Swag: Show-stopper. This collection is for the red carpet queen, who when she walks into the room everyone knows she is wearing a Chado Ralph Rucci. It’s all about appearances and little details. Chado has been compared to André Courrèges using the same technique of ultra-modern designs based around architecture. The elements needed to create a drop dead entrance and departure because of the detailing.
