Fashion Girls For Japan

For two days only, this past weekend in NYC, a few Fashion Industry women put their heads together to throw an outrageously cool designer sample sale @ The Bowery Hotel Terrace ( 335 Bowery NY, NY 10003). If you missed it- sorry! Luckily, I found out about it on friday and was able to make it on the last day where there was an additional 30% off already deep discounted prices!

The women who put it together, all connected in some “fashion” to Japan, were able to pull together 60+ Designers , who each donated ‘one rolling rack’ of their clothing to help support the disaster relief efforts. Designers who participated, but not limited to: Alexander Wang, Alice & Olivia, Behnaz Sarafpour, Bess, Diane Von Furstenberg, Theory, Opening Ceremony, Wayne, VPL, Meghan of Los Angeles, Yigal Azrouel, Cynthia Rowley, Rag & Bone.

The savvy women behind Fashion Girls for Japan are Kikka Hanazawa (President of VPL), Tomoko Ogura (Fashion director Women’s co-op @ Barneys NY), & Kyoko Kageyama (3.1 Phillip Lim), who was in Japan at the time the 9.0 magnitude earthquake & tsunami hit on March 11, 2011. These women along with volunteers from the Japanese- American fashion community, the donations of all the designers, support from Julie Gilhart (fashion consultant) & Stella Ishii from the News Showroom, threw a fun weekend charity event that not only was inspiring, but made all that attended feel good in taking some time out to help those across the world.

The greatest thing about this charity event was that 100% of the proceeds will benefit the Japan Society Earthquake Relief Fund, The Red Cross & NYC’s Japan Earthquake & Tsunami Fund.

Here are a few of my designer finds for the day……
