Son Jung Wan Fall/Winter 2011 Collection

What I thrive on during fashion month is finding new designers with flare and taste. When I received my invite to the Son Jung Wan show I was delighted to attend the debut of her Fall/Winter 2011 collection during New York Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. I had heard great things about her already in Paris as a designer to watch.

If you like a little razzle dazzle then look no further here comes Son Jung Wan. I often read the blog Red Carpet Fashion Awards and dream of the day when, I will have a Red Carpet moment, a girl can dream, right; I do think after this show Son Jung Wan will have Red Carpet moments this Fall 2011.

Son Jung Wan used neutral palette and for added embellishment paired with metallic threads, fur details and gleaming sequins. Down the runway came fur capes and jackets, sleek silk gowns, metallic silk trousers and tweeds all in a neutral palette of creams, nudes, taupes, golds & greys. The smokey grey fur cape was to die for. The knitwear was body-conscious paired with skin-tight pants that were high-waisted and flared. The gowns were made of Silk with cutouts and plunging necklines to give it that 70′s sexy glamour ala Sharon Stone in Casino.”

The collection was on trend for Fall 2011 from the key colour trends for next season and the sleek sophisticated look another key trend for Fall 2011. The Korean designer’ Son Jung Wan client is an ‘uptown, rock star.’ This is exactly what is appealing about the line. It gives me the sense of Cinderella at a ball, because you never know when you will turn into a pumpkin and you always need to look your best. At a black tie event or cocktail party I hope to see more Son Jung Wan.

Son Jung Wan is one of the largest Korean designer labels in the US and stocked at over 37 boutiques. Son has participated in Seoul Fashion Week for many years and has shown at Who’s Next, the Parisian trade show.
