CFDA Fashion Awards Nominees and Honorees For 2011
Last night, March 16, in New York, the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) announced the nominees and honorees for the 2011 CFDA Fashion Awards, at an exclusive event hosted by Nadja Swarovski and CFDA President Diane von Furstenberg.
The nominees are:
Womenswear Designer of the Year – Alexander Wang, Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez for Proenza Schouler, and Marc Jacobs
Menswear Designer of the Year
Michael Bastian, Patrik Ervell, and Simon Spurr
Accessory Designer of the Year – Alexander Wang, Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez for Proenza Schouler, and Reed Krakoff.
The nominees for the Swarovski Award for Womenswear include: Joseph Altuzarra, Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen, and Prabal Gurung
Menswear: Alexander Wang, Phillip Lim, and Robert Geller
Accessory Design: Alejandro Ingelmo, Eddie Borgo, Jason Wu, and Pamela Love
The Swarovski Award recipients in each category will receive financial support from Swarovski as well as exposure to the company’s vast and innovative Swarovski crystal resources.
The Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award will be awarded to four-time CFDA Fashion Award winner Marc Jacobs
The Media Award, given in honour of Eugenia Sheppard, will be given to Hilary Alexander of The Telegraph
The International Award will go to Phoebe Philo for Céline;
The Founders Award, given in honour of CFDA founder Eleanor Lambert, will go to
Hal Rubenstein of InStyle
The Fashion Icon Award will this year be given to Lady Gaga.
This year’s winners will be crowned at the annual gala on June 6 at Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center.
